After winning region championships in 2020, Elizabethtown, Paintsville and West Jessamine are among the teams on the rise in the 2021 high school volleyball season.

Here is a look at the three reigning region champions on the rise.

Elizabethtown: Reigning Region 5 champion Elizabethown is off to a 4-0 start in the 2021 high school volleyball season. The Panthers have posted wins over North Hardin, John Hardin, Campbellsville and Fort Knox thus far in the 2021 high school volleyball season. Mary Elise Hargan (Sr., OH), Sarah Clark Sarah Clark S Elizabethtown | 2023 State KY (Jr., S/OPP), Avery Powers (So., DS), Jenna Smallwood (Sr., MB/OPP) and Taylor Ray (Sr., OH) are key players back on the court for Elizabethtown. 

Paintsville: The reigning 15th Region champion, Paintsville won the Seeds for Success Tournament at Fleming County High School on Saturday, Aug. 28. Paintsville picked up wins over Ashland, Bourbon County, George Rogers Clark, Mason County and Perry County Central during the Fleming County-hosted tournament. Bella Blackburn Bella Blackburn S Paintsville | 2023 State KY (Jr., S), Hailey Little Hailey Little MB Paintsville | 2023 State KY (Jr., MB), Blair Ratliff Blair Ratliff MB Paintsville | 2023 State KY (Jr., MB), Mattie Ratliff Mattie Ratliff DS/L Paintsville | 2022 State KY (Sr., L) and Kynzi Slone (Jr., RS) combine to lead Paintsville. 

West Jessamine: Off to an 8-0 start in the 2021
