Every once in a while, we’ll use this space to recommend some matches to keep and eye on and, most importantly, some of the most interesting prospects you’ll want to watch if you have an opportunity.
Here’s our suggestion for Tuesday, August 31:
Ridge Point vs The Woodlands – 6.30pm
Ridge Point has started the season on fire, winning 13 of their first 15 matches. The Lady Panthers’ first lost came by the hands of The Woodlands two weeks ago and it preceded a tough run of form for the team, which lost the last four and will be looking to rebound at home.
The Woodlands is up to one of the best starts of season in the entire state, having won 25 of their first 28 matches so far. The Highlanders, though, are also going through a shaky stretch as all their three losses came within the last weekend, after 23 straight victories.
Players to Watch – Ridge Point
Alexis Roberson Alexis Roberson 6'4" | MB Ridge Point | 2022 State #163 Nation TX – Middle Blocker/Opposite – Club: Houston Juniors – 2022

A 6’4” middle blocker, who can also play as an opposite, Roberson uses all of her physical tools really well at the net and is a true difference-maker for both Ridge Point and her club team Houston Juniors . Ranked 15th on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings, she is set to continue doing great things at the collegiate level as she committed with Louisiana State.
Sydney Jordan Sydney Jordan 6'3" | OH Ridge Point | 2023 State #44 Nation TX – Outside Hitter – Club: Houston Juniors – 2023
Sydney Jordan Sydney Jordan 6'3" | OH Ridge Point | 2023 State #44 Nation TX is among Ridge Point’s top performers in virtually every skill as she rankings first in kills (98) and aces (11) and third in blocks (25), digs (177) and passes (102). Such a solid all-around game is not easy to see in 6’3” outside hitters, an even less at this age, and that’s exactly what makes of her a special talent. Players to Watch –The Woodlands
Claire Dewine – Right Sider – Club: Houston Juniors – 2023
If a player leads her team in both kills and assists, she’s probably doing something right. That, for sure, is the case of Claire Dewine, arguably the main name of The Woodlands’ campaign so far. A 6’1” prospect, she has all the physical and technical tools to be a dominant player on the court and that’s exactly what she’s been doing with the Highlanders, having tallied 183 kills and 250 assists so far – she also ranks first in aces (28) and second in digs (145) and blocks (22), showing how diversified and complete her game is.
Ella Lewis – Outside Hitter – Club: Houston Skyline – 2025
Ella Lewis has immediately become a key player in the Highlanders’ playing system as the freshman outside hitter took a huge scoring duty with the team, ranking only behind Dewine in kills with 155. A 5’10” outside hitter, she can jump out of the gym and has such a heavy arm, which she uses to hammer the ball time and time again. There’s still some work to done in several areas of Lewis’ game and it’s impossible to predict how high her ceiling is so early in her career, but the fact that she manages to make such an impact in just her first year of high school volleyball certainly indicates great things are ahead of her.
