Continue ReadingWe are proud of our new update to the 2022 Class. We have covered these young ladies for a year now and have had so many factors to consider when deciding who should be where in the State Rankings. It is definitely not an easy task, but it is something that incites passion when discussing positions, teams, abilities, team finishes in tournaments, head to head matchups, and a list of other things we take into consideration. In the end all of these players deserve to be on our State Ranked List and we are very proud to share them with you. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Maggie Walsh Maggie Walsh 5'10" | OH San Marcos | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-10 Outside (HS: San Marcos/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Texas State University)
We are proud to announce that Maggie is now currently ranked as the 39th best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We profiled her a few times so far on the site due to her play and we stated the following, “Miss Walsh moved to the San Marcos/Austin area this past year from the vaunted Denton Guyer high school and Instinct Volleyball club’s programs. A big move like that from a super solid program could have had some serious impacts on her volleyball career. However, Maggie landed into another fantastic program in Austin Juniors and has not skipped a beat on the court. A high riser who can absolutely throttle the ball is a problem on the court. The way she hits the ball should come with a warning or something. She has a gift in the form of a right arm. The ball almost disappears when she makes contact. It is a thing of beauty to watch this young lady hit a ball that hard down the line after she nails a few cross-court attacks. She is a special six-rotation player who will lead her san marcos team in passing efficiency and attacking. While she might not attract schools with a 5-10 height, she should not get looked over as she is special and will definitely help a college roster. Usually it takes someone some time to get acclimated to playing with new teammates in order to create some fire, but Maggie didn’t need any time at all to show the explosiveness that she possesses in her first year with San Marcos. She had a phenomenal year in which she tallied 334 kills, hit an astounding .351 hitting percentage, 37 blocks, 24 aces, and 216 digs. We cannot wait to see what she does in her senior season next year. Help us congratulate her on the movement up the rankings.” She has done it again. Maggie has made some serious moves in our newest update. Every time she steps on the court she seems to knock it out of the park and get better at her craft. She recently verbally committed to Texas State University and will be a stud for them the moment she steps on campus. In the meantime, we are proud to cover her senior season. Please congratulate her on moving up the rankings.
Izabella Ortiz Izabella Ortiz 6'1" | MB Flower Mound | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-1 Middle (HS: Flower Mound/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Stephen F Austin)
We are proud to announce that Izabella Ortiz Izabella Ortiz 6'1" | MB Flower Mound | 2022 State TX as moved up the rankings and is now listed as the 54th best prospect according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays at Flower Mound High School and club for Drive Nation out of the North Texas Region. We profiled her a few months ago when we first introduced her to the rankings and here is a little of what we stated, “She is an uncommitted but very physical and talented middle who should be getting tons of looks as colleges are looking to solidify their rosters for the future. Kelsey has been a stud for every team she has been on. She and her state ranked Flower Mound volleyball team went 23-2 overall and 14-1 in district last season. In two years on varsity, she has been able to accumulate 266 kills on a .264 hitting percentage and 146 blocks. She is a super high flying and athletic stud attacker that in my opinion can hit any position at any level on the court. Any college who is lucky enough to pick up this young lady will have so much fun utilizing her in different offensive systems. What I love about her is that she plays sand volleyball also and that showcases her overall ball control in the sport. Take a look at her and you will not be disappointed.” This young lady has been on a TEAR this year for Flower Mound. She has been having a terrific senior season so far. Her team is currently 23-3 on the year and Miss Ortiz is a huge reason why as she has 192 kills on a tremendous .355 hitting percentage. We watched her dominate this summer at GJNC with her Drive Nation team and we love what she is doing at Flower Mound. She recently committed to Stephen F. Austin University and we couldn’t be more proud. There should be no doubt that she will make an immediate impact on their program when she arrives on campus. We will be watching how the rest of her senior season plays out, but we think she will be a force in the State Playoffs. Please congratulate her on moving up the rankings due to her play.
Avery Shimaitis Avery Shimaitis 5'11" | OH George Ranch | 2022 State #142 Nation TX [2022] 5-11 Outside (HS: George Ranch/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Pepperdine)
Avery has moved up the list and is now the 50th ranked overall prospect according to the Prep Dig State Rankings list. We have profiled her a few times and here is a little from the articles, “She is a part of the famed ten foot club as she can get up to 10’2”. Avery is a dominant attacker for her Skyline team and for the Longhorns. She can bang with the best hitters in the area. Avery is a six rotation outside hitter and excels on the court. Her strength is undoubtedly her power. Her upper body is built for the left side. She will be a force for the foreseeable future for a college team. She deserves to be looked at and put on someone’s short list. She’s able to run high powered offense from the back row and she has this awesome and deceptive across her body off-speed cut back shot toward the deep zone one corner from the left side that she scores with. It is extremely deceptive and scores well. She will definitely keep the firepower going this coming year for the George Ranch Longhorns. She plays for one of the best club teams in her age group in the nation and when you watch her play, you will see why. We are happy to report that she has just recently committed to Pepperdine University. We are excited to watch her grow and get better so she can have an immediate impact in college.” Some athletes let up a little once they reach the pinnacle of their high school years when they finally verbally commit to a college. Not Avery…she has turned the volume button way up and is killing it during her senior season. No one has been able to stop her as she is leading her team in kills. The season is only half way complete and she has already surpassed last years totals in kills. Not only that, this young lady is also way more efficient with her swings. She has 436 kills on a .330 hitting percentage and is having tons of fun on the court. Pepperdine has a great one coming to them next year. We will be watching the rest of her senior season closely. Please congratulate her on moving up the rankings due to her play.
