I want to take some time to give the freshman some love. Here are five young ladies from the Class of 2025 making significant impacts on win-now teams.
Maia Cinca (Notre Dame)
If you thinking of filling shoes right away, you can look no further than Cinca for Notre Dame. She is already the number one option for this squad and is absolute force leading the team in kills and blocks. She has a live arm and has Notre Dame in contention in the BCSL. This team is young but with Cinca’s ability to impact multiple phases of the match, could lead them to surprise people.
Aralyn Saulus (Sparta)
Talk about making an immediate impact is Saulus for Sparta. She is second on the team in kills, third in assists and is already making her mark as one of the next great hitters for Sparta. She has so much versatility being able to hit, pass and set. She creates so much freedom for the rest of the team to play their game and has Sparta in contention to be one of the best in the state.
Madison Walia-Peters (Hoboken)
If you are looking for a young squad making some noise, you need to take a look at Hoboken. The catalyst of the squad is Walia-Peters and as a freshman has a great feel for the game and is always making the correct play for team success. She leads the team in assists and aces. Hoboken is a team to watch for years to come with her running the squad.
Reese Antonio (Wayne Valley)
Antonio is a defensive catalyst on a win-now Wayne Valley squad. The team has extreme depth but Antonio has made a name for herself in the back row. Her top attribute is her passing as she can make a tough pass into an immediate scoring opportunity. It does not matter where she is on the court, it gives Wayne Valley an additional component to make the team complete.
Alexandria Grinis (Kent Place)
Grinis is an unsung hero for an unbeaten Kent Place squad. As the starting libero for Kent Place, she is the anchor of the back row and her court placement sets her up for success as she leads the team in digs. On top of that, she has a quality serve too which has second on the team in aces. Kent Place has been a team on the rise this season with crazy offensive firepower but that is all predicated on Grinis defensive prowess.
