Team Spotlight: Boyd County

Boyd County is the current frontrunner in the 16th Region. 

The Lions carried momentum into the second half of the 2021 high school volleyball season.

Boyd County captured the Dink Scott Memorial Tournament title at Montgomery County High School on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Among the top contenders for the 16th Region title, Boyd County will compete in the 64th District Volleyball Tournament in October. Both the champion and runner-up from the 64th District will advance to the 16th Region Volleyball Tournament. 

Here are three Boyd County players to watch.

Audrey Biggs is a freshman middle blocker for Boyd County. Providing a strong presence along the middle of the net, Biggs is among the top young high school volleyball players in the state. Biggs moves well from side to side and closes blocks consistently, both individually and with the opposite hitter and the outside hitter. 

Morgan Lewis Morgan Lewis OH Boyd County | 2022 State KY is a senior outside hitter for Boyd County. Athletic and agile, Lewis possesses solid jumping ability and can deliver from both the front row and the back row. A talented player who can be a go-to hitter and a primary passer, Lewis adjusts well to sets coming from any location.

A talented player who can be a go-to hitter and a primary passer, Lewis adjusts well to sets coming from any location.  Emma Sparks Emma Sparks MB Boyd Couty | 2023 State KY is a junior middle blocker for Boyd County. Sparks executes fast attacks routinely and has displayed the ability to read the setter and adjust her approach to get the most out of attacks. A productive blocker, Sparks is aggressive along the middle of the net and reads the setter accurately.
