Continue ReadingThere was a lot of expectation for the start of the 2021 high school volleyball season in the state of Washington and, after nearly two months of intense action across the Evergreen State, it’s easier now to understand the bigger picture.
Since the season started, we’ve run series highlighting the players who are standing out in Washington separating them by division, class or position. Now, with two months of play in the books, we’ll start being a little bit more specific, and give a shoutout to some prospects who barely missed the cut on those first pieces.
On today’s article, we’ll mention three middle blocker who are thriving in the 1B Division:
Bree Rawls – HS: Oakesdale – 2022
Despite been relatively undersized for the middle blocker position at 5’9”, Bree Rawls has been doing a great job at the net for Oakesdale. With her good reading of the game and experience, Rawls has been a prolific blocker for the Knighthawks, amassing 31 so far. Her offense has been a positive factor for the team as she contributed 95 kills already.
Hayden Schuh – HS: Odessa – 2024
Hayden Schuh is another middle who’s playing bigger than her size. The 5’8” prospect is holding her own while blocking, having tallied 23 stuffs so far in the season, and is also an important offensive piece for the Lady Tiger, with 113 kills registered to her name. She also brings value by contributing in areas middles not typically do, such as defense (57 digs) and serving (43 aces).
Belle Stark – HS: Northport – 2023
Despite of her six-foot frame, Belle Stark is not necessarily the most effective middle when it comes to blocking as she registered only seven stuffs so far in the season. Her offense, though, is one of her strengths as she’s produced 65 kills already in 2021. Stark is also a very good server, having generated as many as 58 points (1.4 aces per set) from service line, and a decent defender, who stands at 39 digs.
