Andrean (31-5)
Similar to Trinity Lutheran in the 1A title matchup, Andrean has dropped exactly one set this postseason. The Fighting 59ers dispatched the Starfires of South Adams rather quickly, and the consensus 2A #1 team show no signs of slowing down. The one-two punch of Marin Sanchez Marin Sanchez 5'10" | OH Andrean | 2024 State IN (’24, 5-11 OH) and Angelina Majchrowicz Angelina Majchrowicz 6'0" | OH Andrean | 2022 State IN (’22, 5-9 OH) tallied a combined 29 kills and 34 digs in the semi-state sweep, and add some primary passing to the prolific offense. Maddie Kmetz Maddie Kmetz 5'9" | S Andrean | 2022 State IN (’22, 5-9 S) has been the general of this offense, and is one step away from finishing her epic career in style.
Western Boone (27-8)
The Stars’ playoff run has been a bit tougher, beating 2A top ten programs Park Tudor, Covenant Christian and North Posey on their march to the state title match. This well-balanced offense had five players with more than seven kills in the semi-state win yesterday, as primary passers Raegan Durbin Raegan Durbin 5'10" | OH Western Boone | 2025 State #89 Nation IN (’25, 5-10 OH) and Maddie Hawkins (’22, 5-7 OH/DS) led the way with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Although WeBo has been considered undersized for this entire run, they’re always athletic, and do an exceptional job of keeping the ball in play defensively, led by libero Marli Ransom (’22, 5-6 DS/L), who has nearly 500 digs on the season.
