There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are funneling into the end of district play and about to head into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our inaugural Prep Dig Texas All-State Awards. The players we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Faith Cox [2022] 5-9 Setter (HS: Cedar Ridge/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Faith is currently an unranked prospect according to our Prep Dig rankings, but is playing herself into consideration this season. She is a talented setter from the Central Texas area. She plays for Cedar Ridge High School and also for the fantastic Austin Skyline program. Although she has been steady for her entire high school career as a setter, this young lady has really come into her own this season and is leading the entire state in assists so far this year. This season alone she already has 1198 assists and is nowhere near done. This five foot nine lefty even has 84 kills, 61 aces, 35 blocks and 316 digs. She has truly stepped up as a leader on a gifted team that is battling everyone the play. She has helped her team to a 35-10 overall record and is competing very hard to earn a playoff birth in a super competitive district. Please congratulate her on being nominated for All-State consideration. We are excited to finish watching her senior season and we ask that you stay tune to the award winners at the end of the season.
Jessica Dunn Jessica Dunn 6'1" | S Carroll | 2022 State TX (2022) 6-1 Setter (HS: Carroll/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: West Virginia)
Jessica is currently listed as the 53rd best overall prospect and the 11th best setter in the state according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We have written about her a few times and here is a little refresher about what we wrote, “She plays at Carroll Senior HS and also club for Excel out of the North Texas Region. We are very happy to have her on such a prestigious list now and she has every tool to continue to move up the rankings. We were introduced to her a few months ago and we have been following her and her Excel teammates since then while they have qualified for USA Junior Nationals in the Open division. Many schools will know her name and see what we see, which is someone who can play at the division one level right now if she wanted to. She keeps a great posture throughout each ball she dishes out. Miss Dunn has every tool in her toolbox when it comes to delivery. She can set all tempos and locations consistently. We see tons of potential in this young lady and her ceiling is high to become a great setter for college. Grab your popcorn and get ready to watch her distribute the ball to all of her amazing teammates at Nationals. We are proud to announce that she recently verbally committed to the University of West Virginia. We were able to watch her a few times during USA Nationals in Vegas and she is someone who will do extremely well for West Virginia from what we saw in person. “ She has been rolling during her senior season. She is currently at 1,115 assists on the year which is almost double what she had all of last season. Every single statistical category has been surpassed and the year isn’t even over. She has her Southlake Carroll squad poised for a playoff run. Due to her stat explosion, she is definitely in the running to make one of the All-State teams. Stay tune to see if she makes it.
Carlee Pharris Carlee Pharris 5'11" | S Brandeis | 2022 State #141 Nation TX [2022] 5-11 Setter/Right Side (HS: Brandeis/Club: Alamo/Verbal: TCU)
Miss Pharris is currently listed as the 26th best overall prospect and the 5th best setter in the 2022 class. We have profiled her a few times and here is a little of what we have written, “Carlee is a six-rotation player as well and started for Brandeis last season as a Sophomore. Carlee has an energy on the court that is contagious. She wants to do great things, but gets just as excited for her teammates’ success as well. She was also selected to 1st team all district this past season. Carlee is committed to play at TCU just like her teammate. They will be a good combination for years to come. This wonderful setter/right side has just had an amazing season along with her Brandeis squad. We knew they were going to be good when we profiled them, but we didn’t expect them to run the table as well as they did. They came out firing on all cylinders from the start of the season and didn’t stop until they were upset in their deep state playoff run. Carlee was one of the biggest reasons for their great season. She is a great teammate and wonderful person on and off the court. Please help us congratulate her on the movement as one of the best players in the entire state. “ This young lady has been on fire and has led her team to a top five state ranking all year. She has a great team and is the primary quarterback of a prolific offense. The season is nowhere near over and she already sits at 949 assists. Carlee is one of the main reasons why her team is currently 37-2 overall and 12-1 in district. We will be watching closely as she strides toward a state title chase. Please congratulate her on being nominated for our All-State awards.
