We’ll be featuring some players that recently put up huge numbers on big stages. There are going to be a lot of positions, schools, and classes represented here, and that variety makes Nebraska volleyball so exciting. Standout players are everywhere.
So, let’s get rolling!
Terminators
Here are just a few of the latest and greatest single-match kill performances across the Cornhusker State.
Ashley Keck Ashley Keck 5'9" | OH Kearney Catholic | 2022 State NE continues to light up the scoreboard for Kearney Catholic. The senior outside hitter has posted double-digit kills in her last eight matches, including a remarkable 23 kills in just two sets against Scotus. The Stars are a serious title threat with Keck in the fold.
Mikah O’Neill Mikah O’Neill 5'11" | MB Sumner-Eddyville-Miller | 2024 State NE is having a fabulous sophomore season for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller. She’s coming off a 3-0 victory over Amherst in which she hit .500 on 30 swings. That’ll win you a lot of matches, and the Mustangs have had no problems doing just that.
Lincoln Lutheran’s junior captain Abby Wachal Abby Wachal 5'10" | OH Lincoln Lutheran | 2023 State NE continues to impress. She is one of the most intimidating attackers in Class C1 has only added to her .365 season efficiency in recent weeks. Tuesday’s 15-kill effort against Aquinas is likely a sign of Wachal focusing in for postseason play.
Dru Niemack Dru Niemack 5'11" | OH Shelton | 2023 State NE is another junior outside hitter to keep an eye on. This Shelton product just put up 17 kills this week in a grueling three-set battle with Cross County. Niemack’s team is in a good spot to make some noise in Class D1.
Macey Bosard Macey Bosard 5'11" | OH Grand Island Northwest | 2022 State NE has done piling on to her 2021 kill totals lately. She just put down 20 kills in three sets against Scottsbluff and has easily eclipsed .300 efficiency this season.
Keeping It Alive
We’ve just discussed some players who are efficient at putting the ball down. Now let’s meet a few athletes who have been keeping the ball up.
Lexi Frauendorfer is a name to know. This effective attacker doesn’t just contribute along the net. She has recently posted at least seven digs per set in matches against Concordia, Clarkson/Leigh, and Howells-Dodge–all worthy competition.
Isabel Hass Isabel Hass 5'4" | DS/L Guardian Angels Central Catholic | 2024 State NE has been a stout sophomore leader for Guardian Angels Central Catholic. This libero has piled up over 30 digs on a few different occasions this year and just added 28 saves against Wisner-Pilger. Like many of the other teams represented in this feature, Guardian Angels will be a big factor in the postseason race.
Let’s stick with the championship contenders. Maywood/Hayes Center’s defense is anchored by junior libero Aniah Seiler. She has registered double-digit kills in the last five matches for the Wolves. There’s no chance Seiler slows down at the end of the year.
One more shoutout goes to Waverly libero Karsen VanScoy Karsen VanScoy 5'4" | DS/L Waverly | 2022 State NE , who is frequently tasked with digging some of the heaviest hitters in the state. Fans will likely remember her remarkable 37-dig performance against Northwest in early September, and VanScoy has continued to post impressive totals in the last few weeks.
