One of our missions at Prep Dig is to highlight as many teams and prospects as possible around the state, from State Championship contenders and household names to underdogs and special talents who might be flying under-the-radar.
We spend a lot of time at the gyms gathering information and watching matches and will use this space to highlight some of the teams and players we got to watch in person. Our topic today are the Bellaire Cardinals.
Bellaire Cardinals
The Lady Cardinals from the Bellaire High School in Houston are the top-ranked team in the Class 6A, Regio III – District 18 standings. The team got there due to its outstanding recent form, which led them to victories in their first 12 district matches. The team coached by Nicole Blakeman has a 20-16 overall win record in the season.

Players to Watch:
Eliza Konvicka – Outside Hitter/Right Sider – Club: TAV Houston – 2022
A long, athletic and technical outside hitter, Eliza Konvicka carries a substantial load in Bellaire’s offense. The 6’2” outside hitter is the one who gets the ball when the match is on the line and she typically responds well to the challenge, consistently scoring points for the Lady Cardinals. Originally a right sider, she moved to the left recently but has already developed a solid passing game. A Cornell University commit, Konvicka has produced 354 kills, 75 aces, 52 blocks, 223 digs and 359 passes for Bellaire already this season.
Adeline Lasics – Setter – Club: Houston Juniors – 2022
Adeline Lasics does a great job in running Bellaire’s offense. The 5’9” setter has a great touch on the ball and is extremely reliable on her locations. Those skills are potentialized by the uncomplicated, yet highly efficient distribution she runs with the Lady Cardinals, keeping every hitter involved. She’s also a very good defender and an above-average server. Lasics has produced 752 assists (7.5 per set) so far to go with 170 digs, 42 aces, 42 kills and 17 blocks.
Paris Gilmore – Middle Blocker – Club: Texas Regulators – 2023
Paris Gilmore has an extremely well-polished offensive game, which is used as much as possible for Bellaire. The 5’11” middle blocker can hit a variety of sets in the middle and is virtually unstoppable when hitting the slide set. Her physical tools put her in position to score against any team and make of her a noticeable presence at the net when blocking. Gilmore has already produced 136 kills for the Lady Cardinals and currently leads the team in blocks with 89.
