Some are led, or have exceptional complementary pieces, that are listed as freshmen, but certainly don’t play like them. Here are five class of ’25 kids I like the most going into today.
Logan Bell Logan Bell 5'11" | OH Roncalli | 2025 State #24 Nation IN , 5-10 OH, Roncalli
Playing well beyond her years is Logan, a primary-passing outside that makes this game look easy and smooth. Her high attack touch, high volleyball IQ and overall game makes her a great piece to build around moving forward. With the JV team just as accomplished as the varsity, the Roncalli program is in good hands for the foreseeable future.
Raegan Durbin Raegan Durbin 5'10" | OH Western Boone | 2025 State #89 Nation IN , 5-10 OH, Western Boone
Whereas Logan is smooth and controlled, Raegan is a spitfire of an attacker that plays with a constant state of high energy and sense of urgency that just isn’t seen at this level. I like her ability to hit from the front and back rows, and her abilities to defend and receive serve are at a very high level for this class.
Kaitlyn Kuckkan Kaitlyn Kuckkan 5'7" | S Lafayette Central Catholic | 2025 State IN , 5-7 S, Lafayette Central Catholic
The younger sister of current Valparaiso outside hitter Gretchen, Kaitlyn has burst onto the scene and is the clear front-runner for running the offense at LCC. Her hands are accurate and high, her feet get her to every ball, and she plays above average defense for any setter in any class. After a truncated season last fall due to COVID, LCC is glad to not only have a postseason to play, but a kid to run them for all four years.
Aysa Thomas Aysa Thomas 5'10" | S Brownsburg | 2025 State IN , 5-10 S, Brownsburg
Thrust into the spotlight due to injury, Aysa is already running a 5-1 offense at a 10+ assist per set clip. The “next up” mentality that former Purdue player Coach Maples brings is embedded into the Thomas DNA, as she’s also related to Quinci Thomas Quinci Thomas 6'3" | OH Brownsburg | 2023 State #138 Nation IN , the Bulldogs’ leading attacker. Awaiting them in the regional final is Yorktown, the defending 4A state champ and team that knocked the Bulldogs out on this date last year.
Charlotte Vinson Charlotte Vinson 6'1" | OH Yorktown | 2025 State #21 Nation IN , 6-1 OH/S, Yorktown
Speaking of the Tigers, they’ve already swept Cathedral this morning without much struggle, and await the winner of the Brownsburg/Roncalli semifinal. You might recognize her last name; older sister and two-time All-American Kate is a three-rotation DS for Ball State, so the volleyball blood runs deep. Charlotte is just as capable of running an offense as she is primary-passing and attacking from the left, and I can’t imagine a program in the country that couldn’t use some (if not all) of her skills.
