Lola Schumacher Lola Schumacher 5'4" | DS/L Brebeuf Jesuit | 2024 State #60 Nation IN , 5-4 DS/L, Brebeuf
The libero for the Braves, Lola was a huge factor for the Braves last fall in their state runner-up run last fall. With Dwenger, the defending 3A champ, out of the way, it’s Brebeuf’s to lose. Look no further than Miss Schumacher, whose smooth and steady demeanor and pinpoint defense and serve receive will make or break Brebeuf’s title chances.
Brooklyn Edmonds Brooklyn Edmonds 5'9" | OH Rossville | 2024 State IN , 5-10 OH/MB, Rossville
Although Miss Edmonds will probably be a pin attacker at the next level, she’s currently the springy middle for both the Hornets and her Boiler Juniors club in the spring. Her fast-twitch abilities and high-level of volleyball acuity make her a strong candidate for playing any position along the front row, and she’ll probably be depended upon to carry the offensive load today. I like her gym-rat mentality, her athleticism, and her mindset of doing anything possible to help the team win, including playing middle.
Allie Shondell Allie Shondell 5'9" | S McCutcheon | 2024 State #78 Nation IN , 5-10 S, McCutcheon
Yes, you read that correctly. Allie, related to the volleyball clan Shondell, has been and will be the 5-1 setter for the Mavericks for her entire high school career. Her ability to take over a match is second only to teammate Chloe Chicoine Chloe Chicoine 5'9" | OH McCutcheon | 2023 State #1 Nation IN , whose success is dictated by her setter’s abilities. Allie is also lethal behind the baseline, and she might still be growing. Here’s to hoping they make it back to the state semifinal and beyond, with Allie helming the ship.
Marin Sanchez Marin Sanchez 5'10" | OH Andrean | 2024 State IN , 5-9 OH, Andrean
Another primary-passing, six-rotation outside, Marin is the perfect complement for a well-balanced offense that most coaches would envy. Her steady and smooth play, along with her ability to put a ball away exactly when the Fighting 59ers need it, will speak volumes for her career moving forward. Here’s to hoping that we can continue to enjoy this kid’s abilities into November.
Mya Ball Mya Ball 6'2" | RS Angola | 2024 State #124 Nation IN , 6-0 S, Angola
Another legendary last name in Indiana volleyball, Mya is the daughter of former U.S. National Team setter Lloy Ball, who also happens to be her coach in club and high school. With Dwenger no longer able to defend their title, the race is wide open in 3A, starting with regionals today. Mya is very smooth and in control with her athleticism, and always seems to get to every ball. She uses her length to her advantage, and can set any ball from any spot on the floor to any hitter. One thing that might separate her from other setters in this class is her ability to consistently set hittable balls. Her high and consistent hands are so deceptive, she’s also able to create lanes for her hitters.
