Continue ReadingEvery now and then we will do some special articles on those that are very deserving of an individual highlight to showcase their abilities. This week we will give special recognition to Miss Stella Robinson from Lago Vista High School and Austin Skyline volleyball club. We asked for nominations from our readers a few weeks ago for players that deserve special recognition for their leadership on and off the court. We have received tons of readers reaching out nominating some amazing athletes for amazing reasons. We have picked some players to write about and Stella is our third article dedicated to leadership. We are proud to introduce our readers to Miss Robinson:
Stella Robinson [2023] 6-0 Middle/Right Side (HS: Lago Vista/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Robinson is currently an unranked prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but we definitely have our eye on her to potentially be added. She is a solid middle for Lago Vista High School and also for the amazing Austin Skyline club program. She is a solid threat from both the middle and right side positions on the offensive end. It is difficult to switch tempos for most, but Stella makes it look easy. She can hit the quick tempo with a lot of power to either corner out of the middle and also paint the line on the right side. Her upper body strength makes her a viable threat to shut down opposing hitters at the net. We like what we see and will keep watching her progress as we continue to analyze players to be listed on our state rankings. Miss Robinson is someone to keep your eye on if you need a strong six-footer for your college roster. Stay tuned for more as we watch her career closely.
Even though we could go on and on about her physical play on the court, this article is dedicated to another aspect that has gotten noticed during her play at Lago Vista High School. We received a fantastic nomination for this wonderful young lady that were about her leadership and dedication to her high school program, so we chose her for a special article to speak about it. When others speak about you without you knowing about it, it truly means a lot.
You never know what kind of impact you are having on others as you go about your day. In this day and age of selfishness, it says a lot about a player who rises in the face of adversity and doesn’t stop working hard. It is very easy to give up when things don’t go your way and you have no control. When injuries happen to your team and it fees like the weight of the world is on your shoulders to carry the load for your team, most young people will fold. Not Miss Robinson. She has accepted a leadership role and doesn’t let any negativity enter her brain while training and playing despite some adversity this year. I received a special nomination that really hit me when I read it and thought about it. The impact that an older sibling has on their much younger sibling can last a lifetime. We always hear about the impact that parents, teachers, coaches or other adults have on young people. We also always hear about sibling rivalry or brother/sisters always fighting with each other.
When I received a nomination from Stella’s younger sister, Amelia, I teared up a little reading it. Amelia nominated her older sister for reasons that not many young people think about. She mentioned how hard her sister trains and plays despite some injuries that occurred on their team so far. She stated that her sister cheers so loud for everyone and is always super positive. When she mentioned how her older sister is such a good role model for all of the younger players, I could not stop smiling. Amelia went on to say that she didn’t know how her older sister would take being on the same team as her younger sister, but said that it has been awesome. I was completely in awe of how she spoke about her older sister and thought it should be shared. It is such a great story and completely awesome for sisters to share the same court and for one to think of the other as a role model. Stella, keep doing what you are doing and you will inspire many others. It is people like her who keep me smiling in this job. I hope you inspire others to stay positive despite adversity that may come like you have inspired me.
