Continue ReadingA lot of things can define the success of a volleyball player’s high school career. Winning titles is certainly one of them, even though it can sometimes tell more about the strength of a group of players together than about someone’s particular skills or level of play.
Individual milestones tend to reflect more the specific play or production of certain players and several of them have been able to accomplish those over the last few days of the high school season in the state of Texas.
Here are three of these players who reached some special numbers for their teams:
Zoria Heard – Libero – HS: Sachse – Club: Madfrog – 2022
A talented defender from the Dallas area, Zoria Heard holds Sachse High School’s record for the most digs in a single season, but she took things to another level on Tuesday. In a straight-set victory against Rowlett, the 5’6” libero registered the 2,000th dig of her high school career. Heard will remain in the Lone Star State during her collegiate career as she committed to Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

A University of Texas – El Paso commit, she had a tremendous performance in a 3-2 victory over Azle on Tuesday, handing out 62 assists to cross the 3,000-mark along the way. Gantt is currently at 3,051 and this number will only increase between now and the end of the season.
