Twice a week, we’ll use this space to recommend some matches to keep and eye on and, most importantly, some of the most interesting prospects you’ll want to watch if you have an opportunity.
This should be a great match to watch in the Fort Worth area on Tuesday, October 26th:
Southlake Carroll vs Keller – 5pm
The Lady Dragons from the Southlake Carroll High School located Northeast of Fort Worth will be looking to bounce back after they saw their four-match winning streak snapped on Friday. It will also be an opportunity for head coach Teresa Dunn and her players, who are up to a 24-15 win record this season and an 8-3 campaign in the Class 6A, Region I – District 4, to get revenge over Keller for an upset earlier this month.
The Lady Indians from the Keller High School sit at the top of the same district as they remain undefeated with 11 wins. Head coach Lauren Rao and her talented group of players have won 12 in a row, adding up to their positive total of 25 wins and 12 losses in the season.
Players to Watch – Southlake Carroll
McKenzie Cutler – Outside Hitter – Club: Excel – 2022
An equally talented beach and indoor player, McKenzie Cutler has been a force in Southlake Carroll’s offense this season. The 5’10” outside hitter easily leads the team’s attacking system, having tallied 415 kills already in the season. Cutler, who will continue her career on the sand after she committed to Tulane University, has also been playing a central role in the Lady Dragons’ backcourt efforts, with 491 passes and 290 digs.
Jessica Dunn Jessica Dunn 6'1" | S Carroll | 2022 State TX – Setter – Club: Excel – 2022
One of our nominees for the Class of 2022 All-State, Jessica Dunn Jessica Dunn 6'1" | S Carroll | 2022 State TX is having a fantastic senior season with Southlake Carroll. While her 6’1″ frame might be seen by many as her differential skill, it’s actually her technique and extremely high volleyball IQ that make of her the player she is and a prospect that will thrive at West Virginia in her college career. Her 2021 season with the Lady Dragons has certainly strengthened that feeling as Dunn, the 53rd-ranked prospect in our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings, is currently at 1,187 assists (9.7 per set), 321 digs, 75 kills and 26 aces.

Melanie McGann Melanie McGann 6'3" | RS Keller | 2022 State TX – Opposite – Club: Drive Nation – 2022
A powerful hitter, Melanie McGann Melanie McGann 6'3" | RS Keller | 2022 State TX has been in great form at the right side of the net for Keller. The 6’3” opposite has been extremely effective with her offense, leading the team with 502 kills (4.3 per set) in the league. Her blocking has also been on point, with 48 stuffs registered already. Ranked 44th in our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings, McGann has already committed her future to West Virginia University.
Taylor Polivka Taylor Polivka 5'11" | S Keller | 2023 State TX – Setter – Club: Excel – 2023
Taylor Polivka Taylor Polivka 5'11" | S Keller | 2023 State TX has all the attributes of an elite setter. Recently named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Phenom List, she keeps getting better and improving her game year after year. Her combination of size (5’11’), technique, intelligence and work ethic has helped Polivka have a stellar season in 2021, amassing 1,088 assists (9.3 per set), 212 digs, 30 aces and 21 blocks. She ranks 43rd in our 2023 Prep Dig State Rankings.
