Wayne Valley wins fourth-straight Passaic County Crown
Wayne Valley took home the crown in straight sets against Clifton. Wayne Valley is no stranger to taking home county tournament trophies, as the win gave the team its fourth consecutive Passaic County title.
Wayne Valley’s plan for the first set revolved around shutting down Clifton’s star Kate Louer Kate Louer 5'9" | OH Clifton | 2022 State NJ . After Wayne Valley won the opener 25-14, Clifton adjusted their own game-plan and found some success in spreading the ball around. Clifton led 19-14 at one point in the second game, but Wayne Valley rallied back to win it 25-23 to clinch the title.
Isabella Isaacson posted a game-high 17 assists in the win. Morgan Lesler finished with 11 assists in defeat for Clifton.
North Hunterdon wins seventh HWS Tournament
We got the final we were craving for in Sparta and North Hunterdon but the match ended up being less competitive than originally anticipated as North Hunterdon won comfortably in straight sets for their seventh HWS crown.
Both squads did not have any time to prepare for one another as they played immediately after their semifinal matches. It all came down to who was going to execute the team’s normal game-plan the best. It ended up being North Hunterdon.
Emily Wolters Emily Wolters S North Hunterdon | 2022 State NJ delivered 22 assists, 13 digs and five kills and won the tournament’s MVP award.
