These teams did not disappoint.
Each of these four squads are very familiar faces to Kellogg Arena. For the last ten years, at least two of these squads were semifinalists, taking it all nine out of ten times. Talk about tradition!
Here were some of the top performers in the Division 2 Final Four.
Alyssa Borellis Alyssa Borellis 5'11" | S Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State #33 Nation MI (2022) | 5-9 S/OH | Notre Dame Prep/Michigan Elite
Borellis was a force to be reckoned with last night. The six-rotation outside hitter/setter hybrid had full control and made it look easy against Grand Rapids Christian. Borellis has to be one of the smartest players i have seen so far in the tournament. There was not a spot on the opponent’s side that Borellis didn’t see and didn’t attack. Throwing in clever cut shots in no man’s land and blasting through the big GRC block. The Ole Miss commit was good for a triple double in the contest, notching 26 kills, 23 assists and 11 digs.
Josie Bloom Josie Bloom 5'6" | DS/L Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State #150 Nation MI (2022) | 5-6 L | Notre Dame Prep/Michigan Elite
One of the best liberos to play in Kellogg this weekend, Bloom was seldom to let any ball drop on her side. A defensive dynamo, she was eating up everything the big arms of GRC sent her way. Bloom is so talented, often times, she had one half of the court all to herself, easily. Putting up 24 digs on the night, the Virginia Tech commit was the perfect compliment to teammate, Borellis.
Alana Deshetsky Alana Deshetsky 5'8" | OH North Branch | 2024 State MI (2024) | 5-7 OH | North Branch
Who needs a meniscus any way? Deshetsky played one of the gutsiest matches of her young career on a torn meniscus yesterday. Her attack was steady all night for the Broncos but it was her defense that changed the game. Even down in a 7-18 deficit in the fourth for Lakewood to push a fifth set, it was the play of this Deshetsky that made for one of the best comebacks Kellogg has ever seen. Deshetsky put away 11 kills and a team high 20 digs.
Hailey Green Hailey Green 5'1" | DS/L North Branch | 2024 State MI (2024) | 5-0 L | North Branch/Michigan Elite
Division 2 saw some of the best defensive players in all divisions last night. Only a sophomore, Green shined under the arena lights. Defending against one of the best attackers in the state in O’Gorman, Green was locked in. Alongside Deshetsky, Lakewood was having a field day terminating the ball. Green dug up 19 balls in the thriller.
Maradith O’Gorman Maradith O’Gorman 6'2" | RS Lakewood | 2022 State #24 Nation MI (2022) | 6-2 OPP | Lake Odessa Lakewood/FaR Out
One of the most entertaining players to watch on the day was O’Gorman. The future Michigan State Spartan was doing just about everything she could to prolong her prep career. A cannon of an arm, the lefty was giving Broncos fits all night with her attack. O’Gorman also put on one of the best defensive performances of any pin in these rounds, sacrificing her body for several plays. O’Gorman put down 27 kills and logged 17 digs.

Evelyn Doezema Evelyn Doezema 6'2" | OH Grand Rapids Christian | 2022 State #34 Nation MI (2022) | 6-3 OH/OPP | Grand Rapids Christian/FaR Out
One of the most physical attackers in Kellogg, Doezema left everything on the court last night. Mostly utilized on the left, Doezema showed some serious trouble swinging on the right. Late in the fourth set, it was the attack of Doezema on the right side that almost propelled Christian into a tie breaking set. The Michigan State commit powered through 29 kills in her last match as an Eagle.
