Since the season started, we’ve run series highlighting the players who are standing out in Washington separating them by division, class or position. Now, with two months of play in the books, we’ll start being a little bit more specific, and give a shoutout to some prospects who barely missed the cut on those first pieces.
It’s time we point out some of the setters of the 3A Division who are doing a fantastic job in running their teams’ offenses:
Madi Zorn – HS: Mead – Club: CPA Xtreme – 2022
It’s absolutely no surprise to see Madi Zorn in a list of top performers as she’s been one of the most productive setters in the state of Washington for years. The difference this time is that she’s doing so for Mead after previously playing for Northwest Christian. The 5’10” setter continues to be a fantastic player in every aspect of the game and has already registered 531 assists (7.1 per set), 167 digs, 57 aces, 50 kills and 22 blocks with her new team.
Violet Burchak – HS: Shorecrest – 2024
Violet Burchak has been a revelation for Shorecrest this season. A 5’11” setter, she brings some interesting length and great technique to the position, a combination that allows her to contribute in several areas of the game. Burchak has tallied 397 assists (6.2 per set) already in the season, but has also offered significant contributions with her blocking (62 stuffs), defense (160 digs) and serving (37 aces).
Lauren Wittmers – HS: Peninsula – Club: Puyallup Juniors – 2022
Lauren Wittmers’ veteran leadership has proven to be an extremely valuable asset for Peninsula in her senior season. The 5’9” setter has incredibly consistent and her reliability positively impacts the entire team. Wittmers has been a solid contributor for the Seahawks during her entire high school volleyball career and that is again the case in 2021, as she already registered 370 assists (8.2 per set), 71 digs, 41 kills and 22 aces.
