Since the season started, we’ve run series highlighting the players who are standing out in Washington separating them by division, class or position. Now, with two months of play in the books, we’ll start being a little bit more specific, and give a shoutout to some prospects who barely missed the cut on those first pieces.
Today we’ll take a look at the 4A Division and here are three middles who are doing a great job at the net:
Rudi Reyes Rudi Reyes 5'6" | MB Curtis | 2022 WA – HS: Curtis – 2022
A volleyball and softball player for Curtis, Rudi Reyes Rudi Reyes 5'6" | MB Curtis | 2022 WA has proved to be a valuable asset for the Lady Vikings on the court. One of the team’s captains, the 5’9” middle blocker has been extremely active at the net and has been playing an important role for the team on both sides of the ball. Her offense has been very efficient so far, with 139 kills (two per set) registered and her blocking leaves nothing to be desired either, as Reyes has produced 57 stuffs (0.8 per set). She’s also a capable server, having generated 34 aces, and a decent defender, with 42 digs.
Beatrice Anitei – HS: Bothell – Club: Sudden Impact – 2023
One of the most intriguing young, up-and-coming middle blockers in the state of Washington, Beatrice Anitei continues to steadily improve throughout her high school. The size was always there at 6’2”, but Anitei has gotten to develop some other aspects of her game, most notably her footwork and reading. That has led her to the solid production of 125 kills (1.7 per set) and 49 blocks (0.7 per set) for Bothell in 2021.
Nayella George – HS: Kamiak – 2023
Nayella George is another undersized middle blocker who’s using her superior athleticism to battle against taller opponents at the net. The Kamiak junior stands at 5’9” but plays a lot taller than that and has been solid with her blocking, tallying 43 stuffs in just as many sets. She’s got some room for improvement on her offense, though, as her production stands at 46 kills (1.1 per set).
