Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This next article in this series is devoted to the Right Sides. These two young ladies are our picks for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Right Side
Mia Otten Mia Otten 6'3" | RS Bartlesville | 2022 State OK [2022] 6-3 Right Side (HS: Bartlesville/Club: UPVBC/Verbal: Dayton)
Mia is currently ranked as our 3rd best overall prospect and the top right side in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We profiled her earlier in the year before the high school season began and here is what we stated, “She is both the defensive stopper on the right and the main offensive weapon for Bartlesville High School and one of the best club teams in the Sooner state in the 17’s age group in UPVBC. A towering net presence at 6 foot 3 inches tall, Mia regularly explodes on the ball to score for her team. In two years on Varsity, Mia has been unstoppable on the offensive end as she has tallied 948 kills on a great .251 hitting percentage. She also had 140 blocks, 442 digs, and 90 aces. This kind of production is amazing and has a lot of schools looking in her direction. The talented lefty is a star and we are going to continue to watch closely as she progresses through her volleyball journey.” This season the Dayton commit helped her varsity squad to a 23-11 overall record and a 6-4 conference record. They lost their playoff match against State Runner up Norman North but had a great run thanks to Mia. She was stellar all year long on the right side and led the team in kills with 543 on a super impressive .334 hitting percentage. The next player under her didn’t even have half of that amount of kills. Miss Otten also had 144 digs and 44 blocks on the year. This kind of productivity on the court against some amazing competition and also how valuable she is to her team led us to award Mia 1st Team All-State. Please help us congratulate her on the achievement.
1st Team All State Selection: Right Side
Sarah Lindley Sarah Lindley 6'2" | RS Norman North | 2022 State OK [2022] 6-2 Right Side (HS: Norman North /Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Signed: Texas Women’s University)
Sarah is currently ranked as our 4th best overall prospect and the 2nd best right side in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is one of the main offensive weapons for Norman High School and one of the best club programs in the state in Oklahoma Peak Performance. We profiled her earlier this year and here is what we wrote,“She is a fantastic indoor player but also an accomplished sand player as well. It takes a very special player to be able to switch between the two sports as they are very different, but Sarah makes it look easy. She has both the ball control and the power to compete at a high level in both sports. This young lady is no stranger to accolades as she has earned offensive player of the year on make of her teams and she has also been selected to the Oklahoma high performance program in past years. Please help us congratulate her on achieving such great accomplishments of being a top player in the state.” She helped Norman North to a 30-6 overall record this season. Their team is riddled with awesome players and Sarah was very key for them this season as they battled to become Runner Up for 6A at the State Championship, which is an awesome feat. She recently signed on to play volleyball next season at Texas Women’s University and we couldn’t be more proud of her. Please help us congratulate her on earning 1st Team All-State.
