Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This first article in this series is devoted to the Outsides. These two young ladies are our picks for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Outside
Olivia Vance Olivia Vance 5'10" | OH Bixby | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-10 Outside (HS: Bixby/Club: UPVBC/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Olivia is currently ranked as our 5th overall prospect and the 2nd best outside in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Bixby Hs after transferring from Norman North and also club volleyball for Ultimate Performance Volleyball Club. We profiled her earlier this year when we launched the website and here is a little from the article, “This young lady is no stranger to accolades nor achievements as she has been listed on watch lists and placed very high at USA Junior Nationals in years past. What I love about her right now is the fact that she shines in a faster paced ball on the left side pin. Most young players have a tough time with it but she thrives in it. It allows her to attack the split in the block so ferociously. The length in her arms and being able to time the ball at the peak of her jump give her an incredible advantage over her blockers when she attacks it. Please welcome Miss Vance to the Oklahoma State Rankings. We are super excited to cover her high school career.” This year she was as advertised, amazing. She is one of the most athletic and hardest hitting outsides in the entire state and this is why we have chosen to award her 1st Team All-State. Please help us congratulate her on the amazing achievement.
1st Team All State Selection: Outside
Jenna Houk Jenna Houk 5'9" | OH Deer Creek | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-9 Outside (HS: Deer Creek/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Jenna is currently ranked as our 18th best overall prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Deer Creek HS and also club for Oklahoma Peak Performance. We profiled her twice now and here is a little refresher on what we stated, “Miss Houk is electric on the left side pin as she is very bouncy and gets off of the ground very quickly. She hits the ball with a lot of authority when she is able to turn on the ball and paint the line. It is this kind of vision that will keep her at the top of the list as she is able to see the block in front of her and score efficiently. I love her athleticism at the position. You can see her amazing body control in every aspect of the game. Although she might be a little undersized at the position, she doesn’t play like it at all. She is a great example for any young player that might be a little undersized that wants to play at a high level. We are excited to have her in our Prep Dig Family and look forward to watching her junior season.” She played amazing on both ends of the court this season. I got to watch her in person at the Bishop McGuinness tournament earlier this year and she played lights out. Her offense is something to be admired but her defense steals the show. She could easily be a libero on a college team or a front row attacker. Her play this season led Deer Creek to a 23-8 overall record and a birth in the State Tournament where they lost to the eventual State Champion Jenks. Please help us congratulate her on achieving 1st Team All-State.
