Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. The first article in this series is devoted to the Setters. These two young ladies are our picks for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Setter
Riley Roberts Riley Roberts 5'10" | S Norman North | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-10 Setter (HS: Norman North/Club: UPVBC/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Riley is currently ranked as our 9th best overall prospect and the second best setter in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We profiled her earlier this year when we launched the website and here is a little of what we said, “She is one of the setters for Norman North High School and also plays for Ultimate Performance Volleyball Club. Her stellar play earned her Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference 1stTeam All Conference. She was also awarded most valuable player for the second year in a row at Norman North. She will be competing at Nationals with her UPVBC squad as she plays up in the 17s division and I will be there to cover her team in Vegas. Stay tuned to see more coverage of Miss Roberts. Please congratulate her on being named one of the best players in the 2023 class!” She played outstanding this season and had her team on the cusp of a state title as they made it to the championship match only to lose in five sets to Jenks HS. She was one of the main reasons why they were able to go 30-6 overall on the year. Her play is indicative of the success that Norman North has had for the past couple of years. We are proud to announce that she is the recipient of our inaugural All-State awards. Please congratulate her on receiving 1st Team Al-State.
1st Team All State Selection: Setter
Emily Boyer Emily Boyer 5'11" | S Carl Albert | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-11 Setter (HS: Carl Albert/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emily is currently ranked as our 16th best overall prospect and the 3rd best setter in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is the general for Carl Albert High School and plays for one of the best club programs in the state in Oklahoma Peak Performance. We profiled her a few times this year and here is a little refresher on her, “Miss Boyer has the size and frame to attract a lot of colleges, but she has the game to make them stay and watch. We have her ranked high due to the fact that she can literally do it all on the court. She is a setter and hitter for her programs and does everything at a very high level. I love her hands as they are very smooth during and after contact. It truly helps her release to be extremely consistent. She is able to deliver such a great quick tempo and then a fantastic higher ball to her pins consistently. She should have a great junior season for Carl Albert and we will be watching closely. We are excited to have her in the Oklahoma Prep Dig State Rankings.” I was able to watch her in person as she dominated on the court and she is a sight to see. Her overall play on the court shows in every aspect of the game. She means a lot to the offense of Carl Albert as she is either distributing the ball to their awesome hitters or she is the one putting the ball away on the pins. Emily was instrumental in getting Carl Albert all the way to the 5A State Championship match. We are proud to announce that she is the recipient of our inaugural All-State award. Please congratulate her on receiving 1st Team Al-State.
