Before we get into all the excitement of covering the talent at this event, I wanted to take some time to preview even more 2023s that will be heading to Grimes. We’ve already done previews of outside hitters, middle blockers, defensive specialists, and setters. You can find a lot of 2023s there, too!
The recruitment of the Class of 2023 is really heating up, so we’re giving these rising seniors their due coverage. Here are even more athletes to follow at the Top 250 Expo!
Jacey Miller – 5’9 OH – Cedar Rapids Prairie
Prairie’s 2021 kills leader is heading to the Top 250 Expo, and it should be a good chance for this athletic outside hitter to showcase her skills. Miller has a fast arm and is particularly adept at hammering down the line. Her range, along with her great backcourt skills, will help make Miller a standout in Grimes.
Jaden Francis Jaden Francis 5'6" | DS/L Osage | 2023 State IA – 5’6 DS/L – Osage
Francis is yet another talented Osage player who’s making the trip to this expo. She’s a libero who plays with a solid platform and is not afraid to lay out for an errant ball. Her gritty play has stood out in many state tournament matches over her career, and she’ll look to carry that into this weekend.
Lily VanSeveren Lily VanSeveren 5'2" | DS/L Assumption | 2023 State IA – 5’2 DS/L – Assumption
Assumption is another school with multiple entrants to this event, and VanSeveren is one of the team’s several talented defensive specialists. She will be looking to grow her role within the program in her senior season, and this expo should be a great launching point for the upcoming club campaign.
Lexie Lane – 5’9 OH – Clarion-Goldfield-Dows
Lane is a hitter who made some big strides this year for Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. It was a high-volume season for the talented hitter who took over 1100 swings and found a way to put down a lot of tough balls. Her ability to use the block and locate the open court is a huge asset.
Lilah VanScoyoc Lilah VanScoyoc 5'10" | RS Iowa City Liberty | 2023 State IA – 5’10 RS – Iowa City Liberty
Players like VanScoyoc help maintain Liberty’s high level of play year after year. She hit well beyond .300 this season and still has another year to hoist plenty more trophies with the Lightning. This is an Iowa 2023 you have to look out for.
Olivia Blake – 5’2 DS/L – Cedar Falls
Speaking of powerhouse programs, Cedar Falls is also bringing in a lot of talent for this event. Blake is another defensive specialist who is looking to grow her role on what was a senior-laden Tigers team this year. The Top 250 Expo will be a great opportunity to showcase her potential.
Peyton Robinson – 5’7 OH – Lisbon
Robinson had an efficient year in 2021, and she managed to do that while leading the Lions in total attempts. By the way, she led the team in digs, too. This do-everything outside hitter brings a lot to the court and should be a standout when the action begins this Saturday.
