Here’s a look at six underclassmen that were able to make a name for themselves this past weekend.
Isabelle Swiercz, So. OPP Hudsonville: Hudsonville has to like what its returning at hitter for next season, including the 6’2” Swiercz. She had a team-high 10 kills against Marian while hitting .471 in the semifinal.
Johanna Tillman Johanna Tillman 6'2" | MB Dakota | 2024 State MI , So. MH Dakota: The 6’1” Tillman is likely to be a big piece of the Cougars’ offensive and defensive plans next year. In the semifinal with Skyline, Tillman had five assists blocks and four kills while hitting .800 on her attacks.
Kate Maley, So. RS/MH Skyline: Maley was a nice role player for the Eagles this past weekend. In the semifinal, she had seven kills and two digs against Dakota. In the final with Marian, Maley had five kills and four assisted blocks.
Megan Beemer, So. S Hudsonville: Beemer was the leading setter for Hudsonville in the semifinal. She had a team-high 15 assists to go along with five digs.
Gigi Bender, So. DS Hudsonville: Bender is proving to be a top defender like Carlina Bender Carlina Bender 5'5" | DS/L Hudsonville | 2022 State MI . Gigi saw all three sets against Marian in the semifinal and had six digs and a service ace.
Jessica Lee Jessica Lee 5'8" | DS/L Skyline | 2025 State MI , Fr. S/DS Skyline: Lee got a little action during the semifinal with Dakota, as she appeared in one set and recorded a dig. However, Skyline has big plans for her in the years to come.
