We even got a rare 2026 appearance at Kellogg Arena in Division 4.
Here’s a look at the underclassmen that took the floor last weekend.
Rylee Altman, So. DS Battle Creek St. Philip: Altman was a big presence in the back row for the state champs. She had 13 digs and three aces in the semifinal win over Inter-City Baptist, then followed it up with six digs and two aces in the final with Inland Lakes.
Makenzee Grimm, So. OPP Battle Creek St. Philip: Grimm was a regular part of the offense for the Tigers last weekend. In the semifinal, she recorded a kill and a dig in the semifinal. In the finals, Grimm added four kills while hitting .571.
Leah Smith, So. RS Sacred Heart: Smith appeared in all five set of SHA’s semifinal with Inland Lakes. She recorded a kill and a block for the Irish.
Nilah Hughes, So. OH Inter-City Baptist: Hughes appeared in a pair of sets for ICB and took three attacks and also had a dig and a solo block against St. Philip.
Charlie Greger, 8th S Battle Creek St. Philip: It’s not often we get to talk about 8th graders, but Greger was part of the Tigers’ postseason roster and got into the state final game last weekend. She appeared in all three sets of the final and recorded a kill. Clearly, she’s got a bright future getting some nice experience and being part of a volleyball power.
Lakyn Thompson, So. RS Inland Lakes: Thompson got a chance to step on the floor in the final. She recorded a dig against the Tigers.
