Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This next article in this series is devoted to the Middles. These two young ladies are our picks for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Middle
Megan Roy Megan Roy 5'10" | MB Bishop Kelley | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-10 Middle (HS: Bishop Kelley/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Megan is currently ranked as our 7th best overall prospect and the 2nd best middle in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a beast middle hitter for Bishop Kelley High School and one of the best club programs in the state in Oklahoma Peak Performance. We profiled her earlier this year and here is a refresher of what we wrote, “Miss Roy helped Bishop Kelley go 34-4 overall last season. In her first year on varsity she was able to tally 95 kills on a .288 hitting percentage. She also had 37 blocks and 25 aces as a sophomore. We think she will have a stellar junior season this year now that she has a taste of what it feels like. This young lady has some great bounce to her and gets off of the ground really fast. She has great fast twitch reflexes and is able to stop on a dime in defensive transition to get to her setter to run quick attacks. We are excited to watch her growth in the sport and follow her career. Please congratulate her on being recognized as one of the state’s best volleyball players.” Megan had a great year for the Comets and helped them reach the State Semi-Finals. Her presence at the net was felt both offensively and defensively by each team she faced. We are proud to announce that she has earned 1st Team All-State by our publication. Please help us congratulate her on the amazing accomplishment.
1st Team All State Selection: Middle
Layla Lenex Layla Lenex 6'0" | MB Charles Page | 2023 State OK [2023] 6-0 Middle (HS: Charles Page/Club: TPV/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Layla is currently ranked as our 15th best overall prospect and 4th best middle in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a fantastic middle for Charles Page High School and plays club for TPV. We profiled her earlier in the year and here is a little of what we said, “She has great size and great power to hit out of the middle but where she scores a lot of her points is through her court vision. She is able to see the double block in front of her and send an off speed ball to zone four to stifle the defense. Layla also patrols the net well and is able to score well with overpasses for her squad. I like the power at which she swings with during the one and a half tempo sets she receives. She understands her route tree well and wen to move toward the thirty-one zone when the pass is a little out of system for her setter. We are excited to have her in our Prep Dig Family and look forward to watching her junior season. Please help us congratulate her on the honor she just earned.” Layla played a huge role for her varsity team and was a big reason why they were very competitive with every team they played. I was able to watch her in person during the Bishop McGuinness tourney earlier in the year and she was easily the best player on her team. She came up big on both ends for them and has a bright future as a middle. We are proud to announce that she has earned 1st Team All-State by our publication. Please help us congratulate her on the amazing accomplishment.
