Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This next article in this series is devoted to the Right Side or Opposite position. This young lady is our pick for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Right Side
Katie Kolar Katie Kolar 5'3" | S Norman North | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-9 Setter/Right Side (HS: Norman North/Club: Oklahoma Charge/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Katie is currently ranked as our 2nd best overall prospect and the top setter in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is the one of the setters for Norman North High School and a great club program at Oklahoma Charge. We profiled her a few times this year and here is a little refresher of what we wrote about her, “The left-handed phenom, in our opinion, is able to play college ball now if she wanted to. She is a multi-sport athlete that excels in the classroom also as she has a 4.0. She comes from a family of athletes as she has brothers who are also playing at the next level and will fall right in line with them in a few years. We are going to have a lot of fun watching her blossom over the next few years as we think she is going to be a special one. Stay tuned to see more coverage of Miss Kolar. Please congratulate her on being named one of the best players in the 2023 class!” We watched this year as Katie did it all for Norman North HS. She was nominated in two positions by our scout Derek Jackson due to what he saw all season. She could easily have been named 1st Team as a setter, but we chose to give her the award as a right side. She was instrumental in Norman North’s awesome season and playoff run in both the setting and attacking departments. Please congratulate her on earning our publication’s inaugural 1st Team All-State award.
