Continue ReadingA remarkable high school volleyball season came to an end at the end of November in the state of Washington. After a shortened season earlier this season, it was refreshing to see the prospects being able to compete in a full calendar once again.
We spent the last two weeks highlighting the players who stood out over the last few months and sharing with you our own Prep Dig All-State Teams, selected by division and graduation year.
This past week, the Washington Coaches Association released their All-State teams, a comprehensive list that selected players from every corner of the Evergreen State. We’re publishing the lists here this week and today we’ll reveal the players who made the cut in Class 1A.
Players of the Year
Diya Mishra – Outside Hitter – HS: Overlake – Club: Sudden Impact – 2022
Capable of playing as an outside hitter or a middle blocker, Diya Mishra has been an impactful player for Overlake in her entire high school career. The 5’11” outside hitter has consistently produced for the team and that was also the case this season, when, named as one of the captains, Mishra tallied 257 kills, 104 digs, 146 passes, 58 blocks and 52 aces.
Olivia Strandberg – Outside Hitter – HS: Chelan – Club: North Central Washington Volleyball Club – 2023
A key player for the division’s back-to-back champions, Olivia Strandberg certainly deserves the nod here. Awarded as the district’s Player of the Year, the 5’10” outside hitter is mostly known for her offensive power, but she’s a very complete player, who excels in every area of the game, a result of working hard as a beach volleyball prospect as well.
