Continue ReadingWe are proud to announce our Inaugural Prep Dig All-State Teams. Our All-State players are considered to have played the best at their respective position THIS YEAR. Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our Second Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This next article in this series is devoted to the Liberos. These two young ladies are our picks for 2nd Team All- State.
2nd Team All State Selection: Libero
Olivia Dewitt Olivia Dewitt 5'5" | DS/L Charles Page | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-5 Libero (HS: Charles Page/Club: Virago/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Olivia is currently ranked as our 6th best overall prospect and the top libero in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is the libero for Charles Page High School and a great club program at Virago. We profiled her earlier in the year and stated the following, “The super fast defensive stud is phenomenal at reading off-speed shots from her opponents as she keeps her eyes glued to the hitter and not the ball, which helps her stay one step ahead of everyone else. She has no regard for her body as she routinely sprawls out to keep balls alive that are WELL outside of her zone. She covers a lot of ground as she lays out to pancake or dig a stray ball. Her team will always be in the fight if she continues to play defense at that level. The great part is she is only a sophomore and will only get better with age and experience. Stay tuned to see more coverage of Miss Dewitt.” Olivia steadied the ship for Charles Page’s ball control and kept them in every match. She is listed as the top libero in the state rankings for a reason due to her athleticism and versatility in the back row. She showed just how good she is as they played some stiff competition this past year and she didn’t back down from those great servers and attackers. We are proud to announce that she earned 2ndTeam All-State from our publication. Please help us congratulate her on the achievement.
2nd Team All State Selection: Libero
Brynlee Birney Brynlee Birney 5'9" | DS/L Deer Creek | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-8 Libero (HS: Deer Creek/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Brynlee is currently ranked as our 17th best overall prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Deer Creek High School and also club volleyball for the nationally recognized Oklahoma Peak Performance program. We profiled her earlier this year when we profiled her high school and we stated the following about her, “We were lucky enough to watch her in person this summer at USA Nationals in Vegas and we loved what we saw. She was all over the court reading offenses and covering her hitters. She has fantastic range on the defensive end and doesn’t let a lot of balls fall near her zone. Her court vision is what stands out the most when you watch her play. Her head is always on a swivel like a middle line backer in football as she is preparing to adjust to her defensive position and read for a swing, off-speed or deflection. We have our eyes on this young lady and fully expect her to move up the rankings. We are proud to have her in the Rankings and look forward to covering her. Please help us congratulate her on being one of the top players in the State of Oklahoma.” We watched as she helped control the ball for Deer Creek as they had a 23-8 overall record and reached the 6A State Playoffs. I watched her play during the Bishop McGuinness tournament and she showed some serious serve receive and digging skills. We are proud to announce that she earned 2nd Team All-State from our publication. Please help us congratulate her on the special achievement.
