Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This next article in this series is devoted to the 2024 Setters. These two young ladies are our picks for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Setter
Savannah Skopal Savannah Skopal 6'0" | S Rouse | 2024 State #39 Nation TX [2024] 6-0 Setter (HS: Rouse/Club: Rouse/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Skopal is currently ranked as the 8th best overall player and the top setter in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We profiled her earlier this year and stated the following, “Savannah has stormed out of the gate this year helping lead her high school team as a freshman into the playoffs. She is as skilled as they come for a young setter. You wouldn’t know that she is only a freshman with the way she carries herself on the court. She blended in well with the upperclassmen at Rouse and they showed out together. She dished out 855 assists and had 197 digs to go along with 34 aces and even had 63 kills…AS A FRESHMAN ON A TALENTED PLAYOFF TEAM who went 13-1 in district and 18-7 overall on the season. She is a silky smooth setter who is pinpoint accurate and has every set location and tempo in her arsenal. She plays for a great program in the Austin area in Austin Juniors. We are looking forward to watching her grow. As of right now we have her listed as the top pure setter in the state. Welcome to the Prep Dig Family. We watched as she grew even more as a player this past club season. She is on pace to be one of the best setters to ever come out of Rouse HS. She plays well beyond her years and that is due to some amazing coaching in club and high school. Please remember her name as she is one to watch. Miss Skopal has been nothing short of spectacular this high school season. She is proving not only to be the best setter in her class but has also put her name in the running for one of the best setters in the state regardless of grad class. Her 1,328 assists are the main reason why her Rouse varsity squad is sitting at an overall record of 32-12 and a district record of 13-1. They have been ranked as one of the best teams in the state all year long and Savannah is one huge reason why.” This young lady is good enough to be in the running for the best setter in ANY grad class. Savannah has had a stellar sophomore campaign and was one of the top setters in assists. She will continue to rise in our state rankings and we are proud to announce that she is the recipient of our publications inaugural all state awards. Please help us congratulate her on earning 1st Team All-State.
1st Team All State Selection: Setter
Kinslee Smith [2024] 5-8 Setter (HS: Klein/Club: Houston Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kinslee is currently unranked in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but she has proven that she belongs on the list when we update them soon. She plays for Klein High School and also for the famed Houston Juniors volleyball club. We profiled her when we nominated her a few months ago and here is a refresher of what we stated about her, “Miss Smith has a fantastic posture throughout each set and it helps her stay super consistent. She keeps her hands open throughout her release and makes each set look so smooth. In her first year on varsity she has lit the Houston area on fire. She has 1,359 assists which is the 2ndmost amongst all sophomores across the state. Miss Smith helped Klein reload from last year and continue their dominance in the Houston area with a 36-9 overall record and a 12-0 district record. She also had 240 digs, 91 kills, and 56 aces on the year. We are happy to have watched such a wonderful breakout performance and it is due to this that she has earned a nomination for an All-State award with our publication.” We were happy to have seen Kins in person during our Top 250 Expo and she shined really bright amongst the stellar competition. Stay tuned to see where we rank her when we update the state rankings in a few weeks. We are proud to announce that she earned 1st Team All-State due to her amazing stats as a setter on varsity in a great district. Please help us congratulate her on the achievement.
