This Saturday, the biggest event in the region will be the H-Town Showdown #1, a tournament that will feature nearly 200 teams in the 16s, 17s and 18s Divisions and that will be played across three clubs in the area – the Absolute Volleyball Academy (AVA), the FAST Complex and the Texas Tornados .
We’ve picked some very interesting players that will be on the court in the event to highlight and here are the middle blockers that made the cut:
Morgan Perkins Morgan Perkins 6'1" | MB Episcopal | 2022 State #67 Nation TX – Skyline 18 Royal – HS: Episcopal – 2022
Morgan Perkins Morgan Perkins 6'1" | MB Episcopal | 2022 State #67 Nation TX is widely known as one of the top middle blockers in the Lone Star state. The 6’1” player is extremely physical and uses her frame and athleticism to dominate the net for the teams she plays for. She’s extremely efficient with her offense and also a prolific blocker as she moves well at the net and is very aggressive with her actions. An Oklahoma commit, Perkins ranks 14th in our 2022 Prep Dig Rankings and is coming from a solid high school season with Episcopal, in which she produced 256 kills and 85 blocks.
Devyn Lewis Devyn Lewis 6'1" | MB Manvel | 2023 State TX – AVA TX 17 Adidas – HS: Manvel – 2023

is every coach’s dream. She’s prolific at the net no matter where she hits from and is also a very good player on the backcourt, providing her coaches with a good deal of flexibility and versatility.
Lewis was one of the main reasons why her Manvel high school team made it to the State Tournament as she delivered 480 kills, 47 blocks, 51 aces, 447 digs and 491 passes. The heavy-armed Lewis ranks 29th in our 2023 Prep Dig State Rankings.
Kaylie Guess – HJV 16 Molten – HS: Foster – 2024
Kaylie Guess stands at ‘just’ 5’8” but plays well taller than that due to her explosiveness and physical ability. The Houston Juniors prospect can jump high and hit the ball hard, a combination that makes life a lot harder for opposing blockers. Part of her athleticism comes from the fact that she’s also a track and field student-athlete. Guess’ game is still a work in progress, but her physical tools and good understanding of the game set her up for an exciting future in the sport.
