This Saturday, the biggest event in the region will be the H-Town Showdown #1, a tournament that will feature nearly 200 teams in the 16s, 17s and 18s Divisions and that will be played across three clubs in the area – the Absolute Volleyball Academy (AVA), the FAST Complex and the Texas Tornados .
We’ve picked some very interesting players that will be on the court in the event to highlight and these are some right siders who caught our attention:
Chandler Lee Chandler Lee 5'11" | OH Katy Taylor | 2022 State TX – Skyline 18 Black – HS: Katy – 2022
An explosive hitter on the right side, Chandler Lee Chandler Lee 5'11" | OH Katy Taylor | 2022 State TX is really difficult to stop when in rhythm. A six-footer, she also jumps really high and makes contact with the ball at a point that’s hard for opposing blocks to match. Lee plays with a lot of energy and was the most prolific hitter in a loaded Katy team during the last high school season, her first with the Tigers, tallying 384 kills. She also produced 176 digs and 62 blocks. Lee ranks 112nd in our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings and has committed to the University of New Orleans.
Addison Lanning – Skyline 16 White – HS: Stratford – 2024
Addison Lanning’s game is still a work in progress but she undeniably has all the tools to be an excellent player on the right side. A six-footer, Lanning has a very good approach on offense and can hit a variety of sets, keeping opponents guessing. She’s also a lefty, which means she has the ability to find unlikely angles with her hits, even more when she hits a quick set behind the setter. She already has a very high contact point and two things that she’ll probably add with time and that will make her game substantially better are power and quicker feet.
Audrey Scogin – TX Legacy 17 Adidas – HS: Grand Oaks – 2023
A long and athletic right sider, Audrey Scogin has excellent tools to play in the position. A 5’11” prospect, she’s got long arms and a lightweight body, which allows her to move well at the court. She does a good job when blocking and is very intelligent with her offense, consistently finding the best alternative to score points, even when the set is not ideal. Scogin could benefit from adding some power to her game but does a very good job in making the most of the tools she has.
