These athletes are starting to come into their own, some have already made an impact at the state level, raising state championship trophies, playing against some of the best players in the country on the club scene, and are heading into their 16s year, looking to build some momentum for recruiting where they can “officially” talk to college coaches about their recruiting process June 15, 2022 (athletes can talk to Division 1 college coaches June 15 following their sophomore year). Here are some of the top players out of the Class of 2024.
Dike-New Hartford is so organized on defense they just know where to be at all times. Relentless service pressure. It also helps having the likes out Payton Petersen Payton Petersen 6'0" | OH Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State #55 Nation IA who is always available out of system pic.twitter.com/c9i0pLzlZN

Outside Hitter
The nation will soon know Payton Petersen Payton Petersen 6'0" | OH Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State #55 Nation IA . She is one of top players in the state regardless of graduating class. I was able to see Petersen multiple times her freshman season where she made a major splash, taking the state by storm as a six rotation outside where she hits a heavy ball and can serve receive on a dime. When she swings on the outside, it’s like laser eyes where she can pick the exact spot to hit on the court. If the defender takes one step to the left, she hits it to their right. From her freshman to her sophomore year, Petersen is hitting harder, and now over the block. It’s just different. She’s not all volleyball either, she was a major part to the Dike-New Hartford state championship girls basketball team in 2021.
Kenzie Dean Kenzie Dean 6'3" | OH Dowling Catholic | 2024 State #145 Nation IA – West Des Moines Dowling – Club Ignit Select
Outside Hitter
At 6’4, long, and athletic, Kenzie Dean Kenzie Dean 6'3" | OH Dowling Catholic | 2024 State #145 Nation IA of Dowling Catholic has an incredibly high ceiling for what her game could look like at the collegiate level. Dean was one of the top point scorers for the Maroons who rebounded after losing plenty of seniors to graduation, landing in the state tournament. She is primed for a breakout club season where plenty of coaches will have her on the radar with how she can hit a variety of shots with a big contact on the left side. As she develops her serve receive and backcourt game, she is going to be scary when she’s scoring points in the front and backrow.

Jadyn Petersen – Dike-New Hartford – Six Pack
Outside Hitter
Major springs from the outside, Jadyn and Payton are twins where they are adding to family trophy case that includes their mom, Bobbi Petersen, head coach of Northern Iowa, and their older twin sisters, Sydney Petersen who played at Texas and Baylee Petersen at UNI. Jadyn is a six rotation outside where she has earned all the honors, but her future at the collegiate level could be a high level libero. She has options. She has also been a state track participant in her freshman season at DNH.

Aowyn Schrader Aowyn Schrader 6'1" | OH Ankeny | 2024 State #147 Nation IA – Ankeny – Nebraska Premier
Outside Hitter
In Schrader’s freshman year, she won a state title at Ankeny and earned All Tournament honors as a middle blocker. She has made a switch to playing outside where she has a major upside with her athleticism and strength. This past high school season, Schrader was quite the 1-2 punch with Denver commit Ava Reynolds Ava Reynolds 5'11" | OH Ankeny | 2022 State #155 Nation IA where they had a final four finish in Class 5A. Schrader. She will be heading to Nebraska Premier in Omaha where her older sister, Phyona played and is now at Notre Dame.
Molly Romano Molly Romano 5'10" | S Council Bluffs Abe Lincoln | 2024 State IA – Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln – Nebraska Elite
Setter
Romano is incredibly dynamic. She is a gamechanger with how she can move on the court and a huge all around skill set. She had over 800 assists and over 100 kills for Council Bluffs Abe Lincoln this fall where they advanced to the Regional Final after upsetting West Des Moines Valley in the tournament. She is one of the top setters in her class and will continue to develop training at Nebraska Elite across the river in Omaha.
