Continue ReadingSeveral club volleyball teams from the state of Washington are set to make a road trip weekend as they will all head south to compete in the Matt Hartner Memorial Volleyball Classic, a three-day tournament that will take place in Eugene, Oregon, over the Martin Luther King weekend.
The event has attracted some of the top club teams from the region and the squad coming from the Evergreen State will be in contention in both age divisions (15s/16s and 17s/18s).
As the event will take place right at the start of the club season, we’ll present you five teams from the state of Washington you should follow in the tournament and some of their most interesting players.
Today our topic is Puyallup Juniors 17 National from the Puyallup Juniors Volleyball Club, located in the southwest of the state of Washington.

Madison Brauner Madison Brauner 5'5" | S Emerald Ridge | 2023 State WA – Setter – HS: Emerald Ridge – 2023
One of the top setters in the entire state during the last high school season, Madison Brauner Madison Brauner 5'5" | S Emerald Ridge | 2023 State WA is now ready to cause an impact with her club team Puyallup Juniors 17 National. The 5’6” playmaker had a career-high 782 assists with Emerald Ridge, averaging 8.6 per set. She was also solid on the backcourt, registering 127 digs and 17 aces. Brauner was one of the nine Washington players who made it to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Phenom Watch List.
Katherine Oden – Middle Blocker – HS: Annie Wright – 2024
A six-footer with long arms and excellent presence at the net, Katherine ‘Malia’ Oden is a stud in the middle for Puyallup Juniors 17 National. Blocking is what she does best on a volleyball court as besides the aforementioned long arms, she’s also got excellent reading of the game and the ability to move fast across the net. Her pure athleticism sets her ceiling as a player really high and she has all the tools to get there at both her club and high school teams.
Bailey Johnson Bailey Johnson 5'7" | OH Emerald Ridge | 2023 State WA – Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist – HS: Emerald Ridge – 2023
A technical and intelligent prospect, Bailey Johnson Bailey Johnson 5'7" | OH Emerald Ridge | 2023 State WA can wear a lot of different hats for the teams she plays for. She’s really solid defensively, excelling at the defensive specialist role, but also knows her way around the net, being capable of thriving as an outside hitter as well. Despite her 5’7” frame, Johnson can jump well and has a heavy arm that she uses to hit the ball hard. She produced 271 kills, 167 digs, 170 passes and 34 aces in the last high school season.
