Yesterday, we got a glimpse at Premier Nebraska 15 Gold. Earlier on, Nebraska Elite 15 Matrix also got a moment in the spotlight as we looked at the talent-rich roster representing that team. We’re now going to stay in the Nebraska Elite gym as our series adds another impressive 15s team to the collection: Nebraska Elite 15 Mamba.
Like many of the other 15s teams we’ve already covered this season, 15 Mamba has plenty of players that are making a year-round impact on the Nebraska volleyball scene. That’s always a tough challenge for such young athletes, but these 2025s are getting it done.
So, let’s introduce you to Nebraska Elite 15 Mamba.
Skilled Technicians
A good club team usually does a lot of little things well — things that might not always get noticed. Nebraska Elite 15 Mamba has a handful of players that have really demonstrated these skills in 2022.
Nikki Ott Nikki Ott 5'7" | DS/L Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2025 State NE , for example, has such a strong command of the libero position. She always gets her feet to the ball and delivers some excellent first contacts to her setter. You want a libero who reads the game well and looks a step ahead of opposing defenses, and Ott accomplishes this for 15 Mamba. She also works well alongside Mia McMahon, a defensive specialist who effectively patrols the middle-back area of the court. It’s helpful to have a defender who can step in for one of your outside hitters, and McMahon knows how to take on this task.
Both of 15 Mamba’s setters also fill indispensable roles on this team. Julia Ringenberg has shown that she can either be a 5-1 setter or a setter/opposite in a 6-2. It’s a testament to her broad skill set, and her aggression in the front row is always fun to watch. Grace Lewis Grace Lewis 5'9" | S Omaha Northwest | 2025 State NE also showcases her finesse and defensive grit as a back-row setter for 15 Mamba. Her teammates always feed off her energy, and Lewis continues to develop her all-around game.
The six-rotation aptitude of this team’s left sides is also worthy of praise. Brandi Helzer Brandi Helzer 5'10" | OH Oakland-Craig | 2025 State NE helped spark a historic run to a Class C2 state championship last fall, and now she’s expanding her volleyball repertoire with Nebraska Elite in 2022. She is joined on the outside pin by Paisley Piatkowski, another versatile hitter who takes pride in holding things down in middle-back defense. When you add Sky Miller Sky Miller 5'10" | OH Omaha Westside | 2025 State NE , who has become a go-to terminator on the left side, 15 Mamba has no shortage of great attacking options.
More Names to Know
15 Mamba is anchored by several more players who consistently stand out.
One of these athletes is Abree Plueger. Her natural position is at opposite, but Plueger can also take some assertive swings on the left side in rotation one. She just finds a way to score.
Let’s glance over at the middle, where Laynee Baker, Ellie Brown, and Liv Odvody lock down the net with great consistency. These are three names to watch as we continue to develop our 2025 rankings, with stock risers sure to loom large after this exciting club season!
