Anne Lindsey Wolaver- M1 14 Blue
This girl was a left handed right side that brought the gas every time she swung! She is never afraid to swing and has a heavy arm which sets her apart from a lot of hitters. Also, Wolaver hits left side one time, and it’s remarkable how well she gets around the ball for a lefty. Then, we add her jump serve on top of that with her strong arm swing… She’s tenacious and a fighter in the front row and the back row. Plus, the kicker is she’s only 13!!! Keep an eye out for this one!
Mya Crow- Dynamic 15 Orange
A middle hitter that is crafty with her wrist is always nice to have. Mya Crow has a natural cross-body swing which is extremely important to have in the middle position. This wide shot selection can be truly deadly to the defense. Crow also swings right side some, and when there is an inside set, she adjusts her body to the ball, so she is still open to hit line. Then, I even saw her hit a high line shot over the left back defender’s head which is a very advanced shot at her age. This girl will only get better!
Myiah Butler- Arkansas Bombers
I couldn’t find Myiah Butler’s exact height anywhere, but I’d estimate this stud middle blocker is around 6 foot 2! She has huge hands which really helps her dominate at the net defensively. We forget how important blocking is sometimes, but she can make you remember real quick why having height is such an advantage up there. Not only is she winning battles physically, but Butler is really good at being patient to the outside and blocking at point of contact. She is always getting a block touch somewhere which is not only important to her team but can be really demoralizing to the other side. Butler is just a freshman and has a bright future ahead!
Mazie Fleming- Shock 15 UA Storm
If you want to talk about pure athletes, you may want to start with Mazie Fleming. Standing at 6’3, Fleming was their go-to hitter when she was in the game. As a huge offensive threat throughout the tournament, she helped lead her team to a 2nd place finish from the middle. Fleming may be tall, yes, but what’s special is her hard work in transition and desire to get set. Playing middle is hard in itself without getting set every ball, but she finds a way to stay open even out of system to get a kill. Fleming is also a stud in basketball where she plays for the Illinois Elite AAU team. It will be fun to to see this multi-sport athlete thrive!
