Nebraska’s Uncommitted 2023s Gaining Momentum
Our early-March check-in with Nebraska athletes continues!
Yesterday, we looked at some 2024s that have been taking advantage of some big early club competitions this year. We’re now shifting our focus to some of Nebraska’s uncommitted athletes in the Class of 2023, and there are still plenty of big names out there. These are certainly wild times on the recruiting trail, too, with many colleges still looking to complete their 2023 classes. It’s fair to say that this is a pivotal club season for folks on both sides of this equation.
So, let’s take a minute to spotlight a few uncommitted 2023s that have caught our eye early this year. Once again, you can expect a lot more names to be added in future features.
Evan Glade Evan Glade 5'11" | OH Millard West | 2023 State NE – 5’11 OH – Nebraska Juniors 17 Black
Nebraska Juniors 17 Black just made an appearance in our club team spotlight series, and Glade is clearly a big factor in that squad’s success. At last weekend’s Midwest Power League, Glade reminded everyone of her seriously high ceiling as a six-rotation outside hitter. She continues to elevate effortlessly on the left pin and will bring a lot of excitement in 2022.
Elecea Saathoff Elecea Saathoff 5'9" | S Lincoln Lutheran | 2023 State NE – 5’9 S – VCNebraska 18 Black
Saathoff’s extraordinary success in last fall’s high school season has given her all the momentum she needs to have a strong club campaign this spring. Her well-rounded skill set shines in every rotation, as she digs the right-back position well and holds her own at the net. This is a versatile player that is very familiar with big stages.
Lily Snodgrass Lily Snodgrass 5'11" | MB Duchesne | 2023 State NE – 6’0 MB – Premier Nebraska 17 Black
Here’s yet another athlete that’s coming off a huge high school season last year. Snodgrass’s length and athleticism continue to be assets in the Premier gym, and her quickness along the net is ready-made for the middle blocker position.
Dru Niemack Dru Niemack 5'11" | OH Shelton | 2023 State NE – 5’11 OH/RS – Nebraska ONE 17 Black
Niemack’s huge lefty cannon has become the stuff of legend in Shelton. She’s been busy on the basketball court while also training with Nebraska ONE on the club volleyball side. Whether Niemack’s future is on the left pin or the right — or another sport altogether — this natural athlete is sure to succeed.
Alli Mullin Alli Mullin 5'4" | DS/L Lincoln Southwest | 2023 State NE – 5’4 DS/L – VCNebraska 18 Black
It’s clear that 18 Black has a solid contingent of 2023s on its roster, and Mullin is definitely another one to follow. She has a knack for making the libero position look incredibly easy as she glides around the court to pick up anything that heads her way. Mullin’s ability to read the game will always keep her a step ahead.
Skylar Walters Skylar Walters 5'9" | S Millard West | 2023 State NE – 5’9 S – Premier Nebraska 17 Black
Walters will always be a steady leader that doesn’t seem intimidated by any moment. After all, she was put on the biggest stage of the high school season last fall as her Millard West team competed for a Class A title. Walters keeps making strides in the Premier gym and will be a top prospect to follow throughout 2022.
Samantha Marinus – 5’8 S – Nebraska Elite 17-2
This is another setter who has really started to hone her skills this year. Marinus helps call the shots for this Nebraska Elite offense and is never afraid to make a tricky set. Her right-back defense is also a huge plus for her team when she’s in the back row, so never doubt Marinus’s desire to keep plays alive.
