Continue ReadingThis brand new USA National Qualifier that is held in Salt Lake City, Utah was very well attended with teams from all over the United States to earn a bid for Nationals. There were teams from Alaska to Texas and everything in between competing to prove just how great they are. This series of articles will be to highlight those special players that stood out during the weekend. This article is about the amazing left side attackers who were unstoppable against amazing competition all weekend long. Lets meet a few of them:
Jordyn Harvey [2023] 6-0 Outside (HS: Bountiful/Club: Club V/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Jordyn plays for Bountiful High School in the state of Utah area and also club for Club V. Jordyn is someone that is on everyone’s radar as she is a true six-rotation show-stopper on the volleyball court. In the state of Utah, she was second in 5A in kills with 375, finishing with a .267 hitting percentage, 229 digs, 63 aces and 20 blocks. This tournament we saw her dominate against every team she went up against. Although Club V has a phenomenal team position for position, Miss Harvey is one of their “go-to” hitters when they need a point. I watched the championship match vs Alamo 17 Premier and Jordyn scored almost at will. Her club squad is blessed to have someone who can score from any location on the court and she was on full display all weekend. If you don’t know her name yet, you should stop by her court at some point this season. She deserves to be on any college’s short list for sure. I was very impressed with her overall level of play and will be talking to many college coaches about her.
Avah Armour [2024] 6-4 Outside (HS: Manitou Springs/Club: Colorado Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Avah is a superb volleyball player who put on a show all weekend. She plays high school for Manitou Springs High School and club volleyball for the famed Colorado Juniors. Yes she is lengthy and it is the first thing that most see when they watch her club team play. But this tall pin has major game. Her offensive output is one reason why her team just won the championship in 16 Open. I really like her shot selection more than her power. She is able to score down the line, sharp cross and also goes high, hard, and deep as she gets her hand contact on the bottom third of the ball to either catch a blockers hands or score in the last five feet of the court. This part of her game is one big reason why she should be a very highly sought after college recruit. She showed her amazing skill-set in this tourney match after match. I was thoroughly impressed with what I saw from Miss Armour. Stay tuned for more as Qualifier season has just begun.
Teraya Sigler [2025] 6-0 Outside (HS: Phoenix Country Day/Club: Arizona Storm/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Teraya is one of the best players in the country…point blank. I would put her overall skill-set against any player in the country regardless of grad class. I watched her in person at the Triple Crown NIT and also this past weekend. She plays all the way around and is a threat from both back row and front row. Miss Sigler She plays at Phoenix Country Day High School and club for the nationally known Arizona Storm Volleyball club. This youngster is part of one of the best teams in the nation and she is the star amongst stars. While everyone marvels at her stellar offensive dominance, I love her defense the most. To see this young lady play middle back defense just as good as her libero teammate is definitely a sight to see. I will for sure nominate her for our national rankings. Stay tuned for more on Miss Sigler as she is just getting started.
Nayeli Gonzalez [2023] 6-1 Outside/Middle (HS: Cornerstone Christian/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Iowa State)
Nayeli is currently ranked 3rd overall in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. Miss Gonzales plays for an amazing Cornerstone Christian high school program and also for the renowned Alamo Volleyball out of the San Antonio area. We have profiled her a few times and here is a little refresher about who she is, “She has an arm swing that is almost unstoppable at any age group. She plays well beyond her years for an Alamo club that is playing against some of the best teams in the state. This kid definitely has Division 1 written all over her playing style. She drives her feet extremely hard toward her setter in order to gain momentum on her quick attack. Then she unleashes an attack that is quite a sight to be seen.” The Iowa commit was unloading bombs on the 17 Open division all weekend long. She is super powerful and has some of the best hand contact I have seen in a while moving the ball to anywhere she wants to. I have watched her for the past couple of years and she never stops entertaining me with her play. If you have not seen her, stop by her court at the next qualifier and you will not be disappointed.
