Mattea Casale (No Name VBC 15-1)– From Shady Hills, Florida, Mattea Casale shined in the libero position day 1 in Big South. Casale is a solid and smooth middle back for her team defensively yet also really good with her hands in serve receive. Plus, she’s super positive with her teammates and very enthusiastic on the floor. I saw her team make an overpass, and she came up on the ten foot line ready to dig the ball, and so, she did. Casale is a ball full of energy, and I loved watching her!
Ella Moore (NYC 15 National)– An all around outside hitter from New York City, Ella Moore was her team’s go-to for the day. With hitting in the front and back row, she’s insanely smart and knows when to hit the ball or keep it in play. Also, her offensive in the pipe is a lethal attack and adds a lot of dynamic to the team. As for the front row, when there’s a double block, she loves to come in and tip to zone two, and it normally falls for a kill or takes the setter out of the second touch. Moore proved to be one of the top outsides in her pool on day one. Watch out for her nasty line swing if you ever see her!
Tara Greenberry (HPSTL 15 Royal)– Just imagine someone bouncing the ball as hard as they can against the Sports-court and hearing the noise it makes…. Now, that sound is the first thing I heard when I turned to watch Greenberry play. Tara Greenberry from St. Louis, MO can indeed slam a one ball whenever she feels like it. Also, Greenberry loves to run a six behind the setter’s head that increases her options on the court. The best part about this huge middle is how she’s not selfish. She always approaches to help the pins on a free ball transition which helps the team effectively in offense.
Caroline Noonan (CUVC 15 Premier)– As a right side, making your offensive presence known may be hard, but for Carolina Noonan, she never fails to include herself in the show. Noonan is that physical player that can just take over the game with her athleticism but also her determination and will to win. She went in for a ball pushed too tight and made a super smart shot to tool the blocker off her hand instead of taking an error. Noonan then comes down and screams, “Let’s go,” at the top of her lungs. Anyone wants that kind of energy on their squad!
