Lydia Chinchar (No Name Volleyball Club 15-1)– This setter has to be one of my favorites. She runs a a 6’2, yet she plays all the way around and hits in the front row and sets in the back row. Chinchar even hits left one rotation and excels in tooling the block and using the hands. Nowadays, everyone is specialized, so it’s extremely rare and beautiful to find a player that’s involved in every phase of the game. She can serve receive, set, hit, block, serve, defend… This kid can do it all which is why she’s so fun to watch.
Amelia Snider (No Name Volleyball Club 15-1)– From the same club as Lydia Chinchar, this outside hitter proved to be one of the best in her pool. Amelia Snider plays all the way around and has that gamer mentality. She got blocked one ball and then immediately looked at her teammates and said, “I got it.” Next ball, she turns 4 to 4 for a kill. The play after, she is set out of system and tools the block. Then, she gets set a 32 and tips for a kill. Snider has any shot to she wants and can be relied on by her team. Sure, she’s not flashy, but she gets the job done.
Amaria King (Jax Skyline 15 Royal)– I saw this girl at a glance from courts away and had to come watch when I saw her slam a ball on the ten foot line. It turned out that the game was on the line, and they were down 20-23. Amaria King, a strong outside hitter, was not afraid to swing when the pressure was rising, and that’s something special. Next ball, 21-23, and she rips it into the sharp cross and turned around to her teammates screaming, “Let’s go!!!” I love that mentality of fight and passion for the game, and that’s why you’d probably love Amaria King too!
Bella Satterwhite (WAVES 15 Elite Rox)– A flier from Gulf Breeze, FL, Bella Satterwhite caught my eye as one of the top outsides in 15 open. She’s not extremely tall for her age, but she makes up for it with her huge jumping ability. The approach she has is so aggressive, and it’s really pretty to watch because of how she flies. Satterwhite transitions hard all the time because she wants the ball and needs to be available. Moreover, I thought it was pretty funny when her jersey is supposed to be white, but when I did a double take, it was brown because of how much she was diving in that game. I love the effort she constantly shows and her 110% mentality!
Harper Highfill (HPSTL 15 Royal)– This libero from High Performance is always engaged throughout the play and constantly communicating with her teammates on the floor. Harper Highfill is truly filled with energy and intensity which impacts every phase of the game for her squad. It even showed this weekend out on the court where Highfill led her squad to a second place finish in 15 open. They ended up losing a tough five-setter 12-15, but to make it to the finals in 15 open at Big South is a feat in itself. Keep watching this girl as her and the squad take on Nationals in the summer!
