A look at five 2024 Region 2 defensive specialists to watch follows.
Jaylee Champion is a sophomore defensive specialist from Crittenden County High School. Champion is a reliable defensive specialist who digs and pursues well, boasting athleticism. Quick-reacting, Champion can deliver from the front row if needed.
Evelyn Cotthoff is a sophomore defensive specialist/libero from University Heights Academy. Cotthoff turns the first touch into a solid pass to the setter routinely. Able to cover the court thoroughly, Cotthoff can contribute when serving.
Toni Jo Goodwin is a sophomore defensive specialist from Caldwell County High School. Goodwin gained experience during her sophomore campaign and is on pace to make a bigger impact as a junior. Agile, Goodwin moves well from side to side and digs consistently.
Kendra McMickens is a sophomore defensive specialist/libero from Hopkinsville High School. Poised to take on a larger role for her team during the 2022 high school volleyball season, McMickens possesses solid passing skills and defensive skills. Owens is an experienced defensive player with a strong skill set. A productive back row hitter, Owens is athletic and can produce from various parts of the court.
