Now, with the continued growth of Prep Dig around the country, we can start to see just how good it is.
Prep Dig’s National site released its 2023 Player Rankings last week, and Michigan has seven players represented in the top 100. That includes the top overall spot.
Here’s a closer look at the talented players that made the cut.
1. Harper Murray Harper Murray 6'2" | OH Skyline | 2023 State #2 Nation MI , OH Skyline/Legacy (Nebraska): Murray has been holding down the No. 1 spot in this class in Michigan for years. We always felt like she could be the best in the country, and clearly others agree. Murray has all the tools and has shown more drive year after year.
15. Ava Sarafa Ava Sarafa 6'0" | S Marian | 2023 State #14 Nation MI , S Marian/Michigan Elite (Kentucky): Sarafa showed a lot of promise years ago, but has grown by leaps and bounds. She’s got the athleticism and decision-making to establish herself as one of the best setters in the nation.
68. Nina Horning Nina Horning 6'5" | OH Lake Orion | 2023 State #50 Nation MI , OH Lake Orion/Legacy (Cincinnati): Horning might be a little undervalued here, but we will let it slide. She’s worked very hard to become a complete, six-rotation player, while still delivering as vicious an attack as anyone in the state.
72. Abigail Reck Abigail Reck 6'2" | MB Northville | 2023 State #74 Nation MI , MB Northville/Legacy (Northeastern): Reck has really established herself as the top middle in the state thanks to huge performances on the national scene during club season. She’s got the ability to play the outside as well, but that will only make her a stronger middle in college.
82. Laurece Abraham Laurece Abraham 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2023 State #111 Nation MI , MB Country Day/Legacy (Yale): Abraham has been making a strong push to challenge Reck as the state’s top middle. This upcoming year should be her best yet as she gets to take center stage at the prep level. Not many can match Abraham’s vertical and height at the net.
86. Sarah Vellucci Sarah Vellucci 6'0" | OH Novi | 2023 State #97 Nation MI , OH/DS Novi/Legacy (Long Beach State): Vellucci was a standout outside that shifted to an elite defender during club season. She’s been the catalyst of Legacy’s 2023 defense for years and has proven she can take on any of the biggest hitters in the country.
96. Erin Kline Erin Kline 6'2" | S Mercy | 2023 State #123 Nation MI , S Mercy/Legacy (Mississippi State): Kline is a very composed and calm setter that has great length at 6’2”, but also the athleticism to play in the back row when needed. Kline has made some of the best hitters in the nation look even better.
