Continue ReadingWe are coming to the end of the volleyball season soon and we wanted to write a few articles on certain club teams who we think deserve some recognition for their season. Qualifier season is now coming to an end and some teams have punched their ticket to USA Volleyball Junior Nationals, which will be held in Indianapolis later on this summer. Let’s take a look at a team who has had a great season so far and who we will be seeing at Nationals. Take a bow Coast 17-1…you have earned it.
It is tough to stay competitive in the landscape of club volleyball in this day and age. Coast has developed a program that has remained uber competitive in the Open division with all of their age groups. Their 17-1 team has proved to be one of the best in the nation this season. They have an overall record of 48-7 and rank 6th overall in the nation according to AES results. They qualified in the Open division of USA Junior Nationals by going undefeated at the Red Rock Rave Qualifier in Las Vegas. They only dropped two individual sets all weekend long. I was able to watch them in person at the Triple Crown NIT also and they were very impressive. We are proud of their success and look forward to seeing them in Indy later this summer for Nationals. This team has what it takes to be in the conversation of being in contention to win the Open Division of USA Jr. Nationals. Even though we can write about each and every athlete that contributed to their success, I am only going to cover a few players that stood out while I was watching them. Let’s meet a few of them.
Noemie Glover Noemie Glover 6'1" | RS Cathedral Catholic | 2023 State #128 Nation CA [2023] 6-1 Right Side (HS: Cathedral Catholic/Club: Coast/Verbal: Oregon)
Noemie is currently on the watch list in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Cathedral Catholic High School and also club for the amazing Coast program. The powerful lefty was fantastic in the championship match versus Drive Nation. She scored one of the matches first kills in outstanding fashion and had my attention for sure. I love how she uses every muscle in her body to gain momentum in her approach. She has a big upswing and it helps add so much power into both her approach and down swing on the ball. Each kill that she had in the Red Rock Vegas qualifier was electrifying. She did a fantastic job serving and playing back row in right back also. There were a few times when Coast delivered the ball to her on purpose in the back row. The Oregon commit is fun to watch and we will have more on her at nationals.
Brooklyn Briscoe [2023] 6-4 Middle (HS: Santa Fe Christian/Club: Coast/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Brooklyn is currently on the watch list in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Santa Fe Christian High School and also club for the awesome Coast volleyball program. Watching this young lady at the Red Rock Rave in Vegas was amazing. The natural power that she showed at the net was unmatched in my opinion by any other middle in the tourney. Her footwork was phenomenal running the slide. I would use her form and footwork as a perfect example for any young middle trying to learn how to run the slide. She was unstoppable at times on the offensive end and looked like a woman playing against girls. The amount of power that she possesses in her upper body will keep everyone watching around her court. I suggest that everyone gives this young lady a look as she is definitely worth the price of admission. I am going to love watching her play again this summer at nationals in Indy. Stay tuned for more.
Zoe Rachow Zoe Rachow 5'11" | S Otay Ranch | 2023 State #141 Nation CA [2023] 5-11 Setter (HS: Otay Ranch/Club: Coast/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Zoe is currently on the watch list in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings once I update them. She plays at San Clemente High School and also plays club volleyball for Coast. She was amazing to watch in person at the Triple Crown NIT earlier this year. But this young lady was dishing some absolutely beautiful dimes to her high-level attackers when I watched her play in the championship match of the Red Rock qualifier also. I haven’t seen a setter be able to push the ball against flow for a fast tempo slide like she was doing with her middles. The ball coming out of her hands for that set was gorgeous. She was also playing some great defense out of the right back zone and blocking well to slow opponents down when she rotated to the front row. This young lady was born to play the setting position and she is doing a great job of it. She is very fun to watch.
Other notable players for this star-studded roster are six rotation outside Claire Little Claire Little 6'2" | OH Vista Murrieta | 2023 State #46 Nation CA , Defensive Specialist Brooklyn Yelland Brooklyn Yelland 5'8" | OH Laguna Beach | 2023 State CA , and libero Sydney Bold Sydney Bold 5'7" | DS/L Bishops | 2023 State #166 Nation CA . We will be highlighting these young ladies and others from this team in another article soon as they gear up for Nationals. Stay tuned for more from this wonderful team.
