Continue ReadingWe released our new-and-improved class of ’25 rankings list, so there are positions to break down. One (actually, two-in-one) we haven’t touched on yet is the pin attacker. These could be right sides or three-rotation left sides or primary-passing six-rotation studs. But there’s enough of them to make a combined list of my top five you should know.
Sophia Barber Sophia Barber 6'0" | OH Northwood | 2025 State IN , 5-11 OH, NorthWood, Empowered
We start in the Fort Wayne area, where Sophia is a six-rotation, hit-from-anywhere attacker that has the size and athleticism to do whatever colleges need her to do in the fall of ’25. Her completed skill set will suit her well in the future, and as she gets stronger, Miss Barber projects to be one of those full-time primary-passing outsides colleges covet so much.
Emma Hines Emma Hines 6'2" | RS McCutcheon | 2025 State IN , 6-2 RS, Harrison, Team Indiana
From one pin to the other, Emma has the size to take up space on the block and the ability to go over opposing left side blockers. She’s a prototypical right side—she has size, exceptional blocking skills and can attack at a high efficiency. What more do you need? Her work ethic? No problem; her trip from Lafayette to the east side of Indianapolis is just over an hour. How’s that for dedication?
Taylor Cripe Taylor Cripe 5'10" | OH South Newton | 2025 State IN , 5-9 OH, South Newton, Boiler Juniors
Bottom line—I love this kid. A spitfire of an attacker and one of the heaviest hitters in this class, the ball just sounds different coming off of Taylor’s hand. Coupled with Raegan Durbin Raegan Durbin 5'10" | OH Western Boone | 2025 State #89 Nation IN as the other left side, Taylor is an excellent complement and does this at a speed and ability that makes her seem older than she actually is. And she still has three years to go!
Kaylyn Christy Kaylyn Christy 5'10" | RS Hamilton Southeastern | 2025 State IN , 5-10 RS, Hamilton Southeastern, Munciana
I feel like there’s a kid from HSE on every list, but the volleyball there is STRONG. From a perennial state top-five high school, Kaylyn is listed as a right side, but can play either pin in a pinch. Long and lean, Miss Christy can put balls away from anywhere, and has the length to me more than adequate defending at the net.
Taylor Woods Taylor Woods 5'11" | OH West Lafayette | 2025 State IN , 5-11 OH, West Lafayette, Circle City
Last and certainly not least, Miss Woods is the primary-passing outside you’ve always wanted on your team. Consistent in serve receive, already jumping at a high level, and very familiar with high-pressure situations, Taylor makes this game look easy. She hits high and hard, defends at a plus level for any position, and can make an instant impact on whatever roster she chooses. Although she is under six feet, she’s already turning heads with her mature play and high-level production.
