Continue ReadingIn the same way that we anticipate the GJNC, we look forward to the Arizona Volleyball Festival. It’s an opportunity to watch players from all over the US compete. The festival is being held at the Phoenix Convention Center and it is separated into two parts. It started June 19-22nd for the 12s and 13s and June 23-26th for 14s-18s. Over 500 teams from all over the United States will play for four days. Just like the GJNC, the Festival is another platform where players can showcase their talent and skills in the sport they love and enjoy. Coached by Maikel Bastida and Angel Posada, meet some talented 16 Select players who hope to bring home some hardware from the event.
Isabella Florence (2024) |5’11 OH| Beaumont HS/RVVC 16S
Isabella Florence has a strong hit that gets the job done when needing to score. She is ready to attack the ball in any situation. Florence has great all-around skills in the front and back row with playing defense, passing, attacking, blocking, and serving.
Lilly Thorne (2024) |5’11 MB| Serrano HS/RVVC 16S
Lilly Thorne is a very smart player with great court awareness. She stays focused and disciplined during gameplay which allows for great blocks to be delivered. Thorne has excellent court vision and reacts instantly to the setters and the offense she plays against. She can move fast enough to pick up the quick set to score.
Alyssia Pelayo (2024) |5’8 OH| Grand Terrace HS/RVVC 16S
Alyssia Pelayo is aggressive and has a very hard hit. She can score against different blocks and in different situations. Pelayo knows when to bang the ball or when to tip it to get a point. As an OH, Pelayo has the speed and explosiveness to execute and land the ball on the court for a point.
Audrey Perez (2024) |5’3 L| Martin Luther King HS/RVVC 16S
Aubrey Perez is consistent with her defense on the court. She knows how to cover defenders and communicates well. Perez is steady with her serve receive and able to track the ball while moving quickly on the court. She is very capable of covering her hitters back to position, reading a play, and getting back in her defensive stance. Perez plays well under pressure.
Breanna Lindstrom (2024) |5’2 L| Rancho HS/RVVC 16S
Breanna Lindstrom passes very well and has good ball control. In her position as libero, she has to be quick to get to the tips, save hits off the blockers, and go after the shanked balls. Lindstrom is very capable of handling tough situations while on the court.
Gianna Beck Gianna Beck 5'7" | S Summit | 2024 State CA (2024) |5’5 S| Summit HS/RVVC 16S
Gianna Beck Gianna Beck 5'7" | S Summit | 2024 State CA has good hands, good moves, and good communication skills that make a setter valuable to their team. She has the quickness to get to the second ball and runs the team’s offense. Beck can make quick decisions on the court by getting the ball to her hitters all while controlling the set.
