On June 6th and 7th, 120 athletes attended Kiva’s High School Elite Camp at Kiva Sports Center. The camp, which is nationally open for registration for 48 hours, brings in. players from all over the country to Louisville. For two days young athletes compete in four high-intensity practice sessions that are coached by more than 20 college coaches. As a player going into 10th grade and above, you don’t get many chances to be a part of a camp that gets as much out of athletes the way this camp does. The environment that has become Elite Camp is credited to former University of Louisville volleyball coach and Associate Director at Kiva, Anne Kordes. Anne’s energy radiates through all six courts at Kiva and her passion for the sport and the athletes she’s around is the driving force behind making this camp as successful as it is. Through her many connections in the world of volleyball from her extraordinary playing and coaching history, she has developed this camp to be the immensity that it is now.
Here are the players that showed up and impressed at session 2 of Kiva’s High School Elite Camp:
Mialee Dabbelt Mialee Dabbelt 6'0" | OH Centerville | 2024 State OH (OH) Elevation- 16 Matt ’24
At first glance, the confidence in which Mialee held herself on the court is what stood out the most. She is a 6ft tall, 6-rotation outside hitter who sets the standard on the court no matter who she is playing with. Her defense is outstanding and has intention with every ball she plays whether it’s first ball contact, back row defense, or utilizing her wide range of swings. She has great vision as not only a hitter but also as a blocker making her a huge threat in the front row.
Isabela Haggard Isabela Haggard 5'9" | S Dunbar | 2025 State #65 Nation KY (S/OPP) Kiva- 16 Red ’25
Isabela might be young, but her court awareness, ability to transfer clean sets to her hitters, and leadership make her seem older than 15. It is already clear that her volleyball IQ plays a role in her decision-making on the court and can only imagine how much that will expand as she continues to compete. Make sure to add her to your watch list!
Kaeley Walz (S/OPP) Palmetto Strikers-16 Karson ’24
Kaeley made her way to Louisville from South Caroline for Elite Camp which already shows her love and commitment to the sport. She’s a physical 5’10″ setter who puts up great balls for her hitters giving them a number of ways to put the ball away. She is an all-around athlete and is very coachable, definitely someone to keep an eye on and make some calls to come June 15th.
Breanna Lawrence (OH/OPP/DS) Union- 17-2 ’24
Playing up this season has brought Breanna’s game to the next level. She has the ability to put the ball down in the front row, but by far her defense is the most impressive part of her game. Her defensive reads are made effortlessly and her quickness results in nothing but quality digs. The way she carries herself on the court gives nothing but confidence in her ability from those next to her on the court every time she touches the ball.
Anna Herman (MB/OPP) Evansville United- 16 Black ’24
You can’t miss Hermann and the wall of a block she puts up at the net. She is a 6’3″ middle blocker who works hard and efficiently along with the net. What makes her stand out from other middles her size is her controlled and quality ball control foundation which puts emphasis on how athletic she is. She is definitely a player to keep an eye on going forward, especially to see how much energy she brings to her team.
Macy Lentz Macy Lentz 5'10" | S St. Henry | 2024 State KY (S/OPP) NKYVC- 16 Tsunami ’24
Macy is an energy giver whether she is on the court or not. Everyone loves a defensive-minded setter and Macy’s significant body control with her fast defensive reads make her just that. Her float serve and the movement she puts on it is especially impressive and adds to her long list of what makes her well-rounded volleyball player. Her maturity as a setter makes her open to hitter’s feedback and quick to make adjustments to help her teammates produce.
