With their venture into high school play right around the corner, now is a chance for them to really take the next step as players.
Here’s some of the standout 14’s I saw during the opening day of The Finale.
Ella Sutherland, MH A2 14 Shamrock: Sutherland towered over her opponents, which made her a handful at the net. She also was a force from the service line for 4-0 A2.
Sophia Benedum, S A2 14 Shamrock: Benedum has a lot of long hitters to work with, but she really spread the ball well and put her hitters in positions to succeed.
Alexandra Leggett, MH TeamD 14 Red: Leggett was very active at the net, leading to a lot of important blocks or deflections in key points.
Emma Keeping, S TeamD 14 Red: Along with a lot of good sets and a good command of the offense, Keeping was really solid from the service line.
Bridget South, S/RS A2 14 Emerald: South was literally doing a bit of everything. Hitting, defending, setting, serving. She checked all the boxes and played as hard as anyone.
Emerson Spiesz, L/DS AVC CLE Rox 14 White: Spiesz was a very composed, you aggressive defender. She came up with quality digs and passes all day.
Meghan Dulik, OH AVC CLE Rox 14 White: Dulik had a fundamentally sound swing. Her great form was landing her handfuls of finishes.
Ava Barnes, S Legacy 14 Elite East: Barnes is a long setter, at 5’8”, and she uses her length well. She’s also light on her feet and has a nice touch.
Kyleigh Burke, OH AVC CLE Rox 14 Blue: Burke was making an impact with strong serves, but also finishes a lot of challenging points.
Emilija Ellis, OH ROCKC 14-2: Ellis was a gamer that was going toe-to-toe with everyone at the net. She has a good spring in her attack and looks very comfortable on the floor.
