This will feature the best of the best players in the entire country and we couldn’t be more excited to run it. Over the past 4 years, Prep Dig showcases have hosted over 2,500 prospects in front of hundreds of college coaches from across the country. In addition to watching the showcase in-person or via BallerTV, coverage of this event will be made available to hundreds of our college coach subscribers on PrepDig.com.
This series of articles will preview some amazing players who are already signed up for the Showcase. Seeing these players in person is going to give us a perfect perspective of how they move, how the ball rebounds off of their platform or hands, and other intricate aspects of their skill-sets. Here are a few players that I cannot wait to see live in person and take them through drills.
Hailey Newell Hailey Newell 5'9" | S Valley Christian | 2024 State CA [2024] 5-9 Setter (HS: Valley Christian/Club: Red Rock/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Hailey is currently on our watch list in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays for Valley Christian High School and also for the Red Rock volleyball club program out of the Northern California area. The one aspect of Miss Newell’s play that stands out the most is her speed on the court. She is super fast and can track down any ball well. I love how she is able to play defense out of the right back zone. It will help any team stay super competitive when they have a setter that is committed to playing hard-nosed defense. She has fantastic posture throughout each set she dishes out. Hailey also possesses a tough serve that stifles opposing serve receivers. I am very intrigued to watch her deliver the ball to some of the best hitters in the nation during our showcase. Her sets are very repeatable as she has a great consistent finish with her hands. Stay tuned for more on Miss Newell.
Makenna Loo Makenna Loo 6'0" | OH Cinco Ranch | 2024 State TX [2024] 6-0 Outside (HS: Cinco Ranch/Club: Katy United/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Makenna is currently ranked as the 89th best prospect overall in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays high school volleyball at Cinco Ranch and club for a newer club, Katy United out of the west side of Houston. She is a lengthy six-rotation pin who can bang with the best of them. She is a very versatile and athletic left side who excels when she passes/digs the ball first. While some players have a hard time moving after contact, Miss Loo flourishes when she passes the ball first. She is able to flare out to her touch point so beautifully and absolutely hammers the ball. She is able to create so much momentum by shuffling out and leaning toward the net. This youngster has all of the tools to be a great point scorer at the next level. She is even able to come around to the middle of the court during second tempo play-sets and throttle the ball to either corner around the block. If you give this kid a look during the showcase or at nationals, you will find a diamond in the rough.
Ashleigh Graves Ashleigh Graves 5'11" | MB Southmoore | 2024 State OK [2024] 5-11 Middle (HS: Southmoore/Club: Oklahoma Charge/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ashleigh is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but has shown that she belong on our watch list with what we saw this past weekend. She plays for Southmoore High School and also club volleyball for the awesome Oklahoma Charge program. I wrote an article on her team a few months ago and here is what I stated on her, “She is a talented middle who patrols the net so well for her squad. I loved how talented she was as a blocker. She had both great timing and a strong frame behind her to slow opposing blockers down. Her long arms prove that she can be a viable threat at the next level. But what I loved the most was her fire that she brought on the offensive end. She understands how to hit angles around blockers and score with tons of power. I will be watching Miss Graves very closely as I think she could help a college roster in a few years. “ I am interested in watching her in person one more time this year as I think she has a lot of potential. She is a solid blocker and watching her compete against some elite offensive athletes from around the country should determine where she falls on the Oklahoma State Rankings when we update it soon.
