The Circle City was chock full of the best of the best in the country and some even came to show off at our Prep Dig National showcase last Thursday.
Basking in all of this talent, we’re going to be breaking down some of the best from the showcase. The ’bros were in town and they were making big problems for big, bombing attackers across from them.
Here are some of the best defenders and receivers from the 2022 USAV x Prep Dig Showcase.
Alexandra Sepcic – 5’3 L – Pittsburgh Elite
A libero’s job in the back court is control and command the defense and Sepcic does just that. She’s vocal and boasts some elite ball control and a killer out of system set. Not to mention, Sepcic can cause major fits with her float serve.
Angelina Sanchez – 5’0 L – Impact
I loved watching this player, first up for the demos. A player that is big on communication and can hold her own against the toughest of swings. Sanchez has great ball control and can take over the court with her defense.
Ryleigh Pruitt – 5’2 L – 575
No one trick pony here, throw Pruitt in the game anywhere along the back court and she’ll deliver. Her movement to the ball is very fluid and she has a great read for the game.
Faith Martin – 5’7 L – Five:1
Whatever it takes, Martin will get that ball. Unafraid to throw herself around the court to get the ball, she’s on it. Not only that, but Martin is quite speedy and can run down balls very quickly.
Morgan Harris – 5’7 L – MDJR
I loved watching this player defend and receive, because it was just so pretty. Harris’ mechanics when in the back court was picturesque. Not to mention, she covers a lot of ground in a variety of situations.
Finley Schelhaas – 5’6 L – Iowa Powerplex
A tough middle back defender who has the mentality of “never say die”. I watched this player sprint what seemed miles for a shanked ball to bring it back and ultimately win the point for her squad.
Morgan Esmie – 5’6 – Rio VBC
She’s what you would call a “silent, but deadly” player. Esmie is not too flashy. nothing to crazy, she gets the job done and so smoothly. While she is on the quieter side on the court, she was constantly communicating and bettering the play. Important to note too, her second ball is a beauty.
Quinn Groves Quinn Groves 5'5" | DS/L Papillion-La Vista South | 2024 State NE – 5’4 L – Premier Nebraska
This kid thrives off of getting a beat down. She can soak up the biggest of swings and it still wouldn’t phase her. Harder and harder you go at her, she won’t let up. Groves reads the game very well and was quite an efficient defender.
