Along with looking at the stock-risers and the new additions, we started taking a deeper dive into each position’s rankings.
We turn to the middles today, which is a crop as strong as the state has seen. The top 10 is filled with Division 1 commits already and some that could really make a mark at the next level.
1. Abigail Reck Abigail Reck 6'2" | MB Northville | 2023 State #74 Nation MI , Northville/Legacy
Reck has been a dominant force on the club scene over recent years and will land herself at Northeastern next fall. In the prep season, she can play outside or middle and still maintain her dominance.
2. Laurece Abraham Laurece Abraham 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2023 State #111 Nation MI , Country Day/Legacy
The Yale commit is a very explosive player at the net. Her attacks get harder and harder to stop with each passing day. Abraham also has good blocking instincts and plays with a lot of confidence on the floor.
3. Kennedy Arp Kennedy Arp 6'0" | MB South Christian | 2023 State MI , South Christian/FaR Out
A Valparaiso commit, Arp has found herself working up the rankings list over the last year. She’s been a big difference maker for South Christian in a crowded Grand Rapids volleyball scene.
4. Olivia Gardner Olivia Gardner 6'2" | MB Dakota | 2023 State MI , Dakota/Legacy
Committed to Loyola-Chicago, Gardner is part of a talented group at Dakota that has potential for great things this fall. Gardner stands 6’2” and plays even longer. She’s got great instincts and timing with her setters.
5. Neele’ge’ Sims Neele’ge’ Sims 6'1" | MB Corunna | 2023 State MI , Corunna/Michigan Elite
Sims has battled through a lot of adversity and keeps adding to her game. The Missouri State commit is a middle at the next level, but has shown all-around skills while shouldering a big load during the prep season.
6. Kam Burbridge Kam Burbridge 6'1" | MB Grand Haven | 2023 State MI , Grand Haven/MVA
Burbridge is sure to be scooped up soon at the college level. She’s grown by leaps and bounds as a player in the last 12 months and can’t be stopped. Burbridge is explosive with a very quick first step. She can play well above her opponents.
7. Reilly Zegunis Reilly Zegunis 6'0" | MB Zeeland East | 2023 State MI , Zeeland East/FaR Out
A Wright State commit, Zegunis is also making more and more of a name for herself in recent months. She’s got exceptional form on her attacks and her footwork keeps her in great blocking position.
8. Aubreigh Oswald Aubreigh Oswald 6'2" | MB Lowell | 2023 State MI , Lowell/FaR Out
Oswald has made a lot of strides since a knee injury caused her to miss a lot of time in previous years. At 6’2”, Oswald plays a very imposing game offensively and defensively. She keeps herself active and aggressive at the nt.
9. Makenzie Ritsema Makenzie Ritsema 6'0" | MB Grand Rapids Christian | 2023 State MI , Grand Rapids Christian/FaR Out
Ritsema has a chance to really shine this prep season as she moves into a bigger role with the GRC offense. She’s been able to push herself against the best for years and now can show what she has learned.
10. Paige Sanders Paige Sanders 6'0" | MB Grandville | 2023 State MI , Grandville/FaR Out
A Grand Valley commit, Sanders is part of a long front row for Grandville. She’s been able to raise her game to push the Bulldogs to playing a very up-tempo offense, and she’s also very quick defensively.
